Inter Milan vs Como Prediction: Champions can keep winning form going

Inter are starting to flex their muscles in the Serie A title race and will be expecting to claim another three points when they host Como on Monday night.

In their last league game, the Scudetto holders made a real statement with a 6-0 victory away at a Lazio side who had been in fine form and are in contention for Champions League qualification. Inter followed that result with a 2-0 win against Udinese at the San Siro on Thursday to progress to the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.

Next up are promoted Como, who pulled off a smash-and-grab 2-0 win over Roma in their last outing, with a pair of goals at the death.

That result ended a run of nine league matches without a victory for Cesc Fabregas’ team, easing the threat of relegation back to Italy’s second tier.

Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi will be missing for Inter with injuries, while Nicolo Barella is a doubt with a thigh problem.

Simone Inzaghi is likely to recall his first-choice strike duo Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, having rested the pair for the midweek cup tie against Udinese.

The injured Alberto Moreno, Marco Sala and Maximo Perrone are all out for Como.

Sala’s absence should see central defender Federico Barba continue to deputise at left-back.

Inter are nicely positioned in the Serie A title race, with the holders third in the table going into this weekend’s round of fixtures and able to go top if they win their games in hand on their rivals.

The Nerazzurri are unbeaten in their last 10 league games, winning eight and drawing twice.

They have shown their attacking threat in their last three matches in Serie A, winning 5-0 at Verona and then defeating Parma 3-1, before that 6-0 away thrashing of Lazio.

Although Como are proving to be competitive on their return to the top flight, this is their toughest test yet and Inter should claim three points with some ease.

Marcus Thuram to score anytime @ 11/10

Going into this season, Inter fans would have been expecting their captain Martinez to be their main source of goals.

The Argentinian scored 27 times for his club last season and was the Golden Boot winner at the Copa America in the summer, as he helped his country retain their title.

Yet Martinez has only found the net on six occasions for Inter this season, while his strike partner Thuram has helped himself to 12 goals in 20 appearances across all competitions.

All but one of those goals have come from his 15 Serie A appearances and the French forward is value to increase his tally against struggling Como.
