Inter Miami vs Porto Prediction: Goals at both ends expected

Inter Miami and Porto meet inside the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Thursday (20:00 BST, DAZN) for their Group A match at the Fifa Club World Cup. There is nothing to separate the four teams in the standings as both fixtures in the first round ended in stalemates.
This contest offers both the chance to move into the driving seat in Group A. Check out my Inter Miami vs Porto predictions below, featuring the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Inter Miami did not have the start to the Club World Cup that they would have liked as they were held to a goalless draw with Al Ahly. The Egyptian side were probably left wondering how they didn't win, but it was because of goalkeeper Oscar Ustari, who made eight saves for the Herons.
He is set to continue between the sticks for Javier Mascherano's side, and the shot-stopper will be hoping for more support from the attacking stars that feature superstars of their generation in Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
The MLS side are sweating over the fitness of Jordi Alba, Gonzalo Lujan, Yannick Bright and David Martinez - who all missed the last match due to injury. They will all be monitored closely ahead of Thursday's fixture.
If Alba and Martinez miss out again, expect Noah Allen and Tomas Aviles to feature at left-back and centre-back respectively.
Inter Miami vs Porto Stats
- Both teams to score has struck in three of Inter Miami's last four games in all competitions
- Samu Aghehowa (POR) has 25 goals in all competitions this season
Porto are sweating over the fitness of goalkeeper Diogo Costa, who has been out with a thigh injury. He missed the match against Palmeiras last time out, with Claudio Ramos filling in for him. The 33-year-old will be primed to deputise if needed again and will have gained confidence from keeping a clean sheet from the previous game.
Gabri Veiga made his full debut in that fixture following his summer switch from Al-Ahli for around £12.8m, and the former Celta Vigo man could maintain his place in the starting XI alongside Alan Varela.
Teenage star Rodrigo Mora is likely to feature in attack again but Pepe is another alternative. Samu Aghehowa should lead the line after bagging 25 goals for the Dragons in all competitions this season..
Inter Miami are 4/1 to come out on top here, and they have won two of their last three matches in all competitions.
Both teams experienced draws in their Group A openers and the stalemate is marketed at 3/1, which has an implied probability of 25%.
Porto won seven of their last nine Primeira Liga games and they are 3/5 to come away with the three points in Atlanta.
Three of Inter Miami's past four outings have produced goals at both ends and BTTS is priced at 4/6.
Porto's Aghehowa is the favourite to strike anytime at 11/10, while Messi leads the way for Inter Miami at 7/4.
Both teams to score @ 4/6
Despite there being no goals in any of the two matches played in this group so far, I think we will witness goals at both ends when these two sides meet. They both possess plenty of attacking quality, with Porto boasting Aghehowa and Mora, who have scored 35 goals between them this campaign.
Inter Miami then have Messi and Suarez, who have found the net 23 times between them this year. After failing to get off to a flying start, there is added pressure to this game and both sets of players will be determined to stand up and deliver, particularly those charged with providing goals and assists.
I think it was an anomaly for both clubs to look so toothless in their group openers, but I am expecting to see more composure from them at the second time of asking. I think BTTS is worth backing on Thursday because of the pedigree of attacking players on offer, while this has also been a winning selection in three of Inter Miami's previous four fixtures.

Samu Aghehowa anytime goalscorer @ 11/10
This man has had a very fruitful 204/25 so far and so he should be brimming with confidence in the USA for the Club World Cup. He may be disappointed at the fact that he couldn't help his side get off to a winning start last time out, but he has the quality to respond to that setback and deliver the goods in this match.
Aghehowa has mostly carried his team's attacking threat on his own this term, having scored 13 more goals than any other of the Dragons squad. He will be looked to for inspiration over the course of this tournament, and it is in Porto's best interest that he finds the net sooner rather than later.
While Inter Miami have some star-studded attacking players, their players are in for a huge test against a strong Uefa Champions League-level side, with attacking players with quality that they are not used to facing on a regular basis.
I think this feels like the right game to back Agehowa to get on the scoresheet and open up his CWC account.
