The Robins enjoyed a strong finish to last term, but it only got them up to 11th in the table and they will be aiming to push on this term. Read on for my Hull vs Bristol City prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Hull begin the season with goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright and winger Dogukan Sinik, while Lewie Coyle is also a fitness doubt at full-back.

Bristol City are also missing a trio of players, with new signing Yu Hirakawa out injured along with Rob Atkinson and Ross McCrorie.

Hull’s home advantage sees them rated slight favourites at 6/4, with Bristol City 15/8 for the win and a draw available at 9/4.

Both teams are expected to find the net, with that priced at 8/11, while over 2.5 goals is 1/1 and under is 8/11.

Both teams to score @ 8/11

Just one win from their final four games saw Hull miss out on a Championship play-off spot by three points last term, but goals were rarely in short supply at The MKM Stadium last season and an entertaining start to the new campaign could be on the cards.

The Tigers saw 72 goals scored across their 23 home games last season and found the net 12 times in their final four on home turf, but they kept only one clean sheet in that period and Bristol City have the firepower to trouble their back line.

The Robins scored 11 times in their final eight games last term and failed to find the net in just two of those, so back goals at both ends on Saturday.

Hull over 1.5 goals, Hull most corners & Bristol City under 19.5 booking points @ 8/1

Hull scored at least two goals in four of their final five games at The MKM Stadium last season and can be expected to get off to a free-scoring start against a Robins outfit who lost 4-0 in their final away trip of the campaign.

The Tigers are likely to get plenty of opportunities from set pieces, too. They were awarded 253 corners last season to Bristol City’s 244, while they also allowed their opponents eight fewer corners over the course of the season.

Bristol City are expected to come out on top in the bookings department, though, after topping the fair-play table last season with just 71 yellow cards and one sending-off. This was 26 fewer cards than Hull, and their average booking points per game was a mere 15.97.
