Huddersfield vs lincoln betting tips

Huddersfield Town look to bounce back at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday (15:00), after a disappointing exit in the Vertu Trophy to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night. Here they face an out-of-form Lincoln City, looking to make it 10 unbeaten in League One.

Our very own Terrier Adam Roberts is on hand to preview this one and he's given us his Huddersfield Town vs Lincoln City Prediction, as well as all the latest odds, stats and team news.

Huddersfield vs Lincoln Betting Tips

  • Huddersfield to win @ 5/6
  • Josh Koroma to score @ 9/4

As a resident of Bolton, I was convinced by my two children to take them along to the 'Mickey Mouse Cup' game on Tuesday and after watching 90 minutes of absolute drivel in front of a 'crowd' of 1803 people, my only comment is I'm glad I'll be watching tomorrow's game through a pair of beer goggles.

In all seriousness, yes, Town do have bigger fish to fry and Tuesday's result does allow them to solely concentrate on their aim of automatic promotion, but it was worrying as an Huddersfield Town fan, to see most of their strongest side being put to the sword by Bolton. Michael Duff will ask, nay demand, a complete role reversal, a strong performance and three more points in front of a much bigger and expectant home support.

The Terriers are chasing a 10th unbeaten game in this division, after a really inconsistent start back to life in the third tier. The likes of Wrexham, Wycombe and Birmingham are in sight but are currently showing no signs of slipping up, so a victory at the John Smith's against a side bang out of form is the only option on the table.

Lincoln come into this tough assignment on the back of six games without a win and manager Michael Skubala needs to turn around this worrying run and quickly. Unlike Town, they had a magnificent start to their campaign, losing just three of their opening 15 games but have dropped down to ninth in the table and are falling away from the playoff picture rapidly.

Both sides need the three points for differing reasons but in these sort of match-ups, I will always side with the team carrying momentum.

Team news

Duff had some more bad injury news at Bolton with club skipper Jonathan Hogg hobbling off in the pre-match warm up and he'll now be unavailable well into the new year. Herbie Kane is back available for selection, however, after missing the short trip west due to suspension. Callum Marshall could also be good for Saturday too, after a nasty knock to the chest forced him off against Mansfield.

Skubala will still be without Tom Hamer but Tom Bayliss returned from a long-term injury in midweek and could be pushing for a spot in the starting XI.

Huddersfield are once again odds-on at home at 5/6 to pick up three points, giving them an implied win probability of almost 55%, while Lincoln are the 7/2 outsiders, or a 22% chance.

The draw is available at a price of 5/2, with both teams to score at 10/11 and over 2.5 goals at Evens.

Huddersfield to win @ 5/6

As mentioned above, Town are clearly the side carrying the momentum into this one, not only unbeaten in nine but are relentless at home, winning their last seven straight games in all competitions.

They have recently managed to put disappointment behind them and responded well after the revolting loss to Tamworth in the FA Cup First Round, so hopefully are able to do the same against Lincoln, following another cup exit in midweek.

A big miss on that night was Kane, who has dictated their style of play and tempo in recent weeks and was called 'the best player on the pitch by an absolute mile' by Duff, after the Terriers win over Charlton Athletic recently.

Kane should be able to get hold of the ball here and spread it quickly to the wingbacks, who are such a crucial part of Huddersfield's attacking arsenal. Either Ollie Turton or the returning Lasse Sorensen are able to provide genuine quality from the right flank and we may see that come to fruition again on Saturday.

Lincoln possess far more quality than their recent record suggests but they are running on fumes of confidence right now and they will find themselves right up against it on Saturday in front of a raucous West Yorkshire crowd.

Josh Koroma to score @ 9/4

Koroma had probably his best game of the season in the away win at Mansfield last week and is starting to carry the threat that many expected back down at this level.

He scored his fifth goal of the season at Field Mill but couldn't get on the sheet at Bolton in a frustrating display, where he was employed behind the front two for large chunks of the game, before being strangely subbed off when he was creating all of Town's best moments. Perhaps Duff was holding him back for this far more important game and we should see the fruits of that decision on Saturday.

Koroma now looks fully fit and motivated after a niggling back issue and the goals should start to flow as we move towards the section half of the season.
