There's a proper old-fashioned six-pointer taking place in the Championship on Saturday. 21st placed Huddersfield Town host a Plymouth Argyle side in 18th spot, with a lot on the line for both sides. We've previewed this relegation battle and given you our suggested betting selections.

Huddersfield vs Plymouth Betting Tips

  • Huddersfield to win and BTTS - 3/1
  • Both teams to have 19.5+ booking points - 11/10

Huddersfield go into this crucial bottom of the table clash on the back of a 5-0 hiding by the current World, European and English champions, Manchester City.

The 6,800+ Town fans who were in attendance knew before buying a ticket that there was no chance of the overturning the odds and there were much more important games to come. However, it would have been nice to have seen them have a bit of a go at least...

Questions still remain over the future of Darren Moore but new owner Kevin M Nagle was bullish in a recent Radio Leeds interview, stating that the ex-Sheffield Wednesday manager was going nowhere and has backed his man early in the January transfer window, with promises of more to come.

Whether that still rings true in say February or March, if the Terriers find themselves rooted in the bottom three is another discussion point but for now, they have their man and they have to start winning games and quickly.

As for Argyle, they themselves have undergone a managerial change, with Steven Schumacher leaving just before Christmas to Championship rival Stoke City. Since then, they are winless in four and have slipped into the tussle between the second tier strugglers.

In has come former England U-20 head coach and more recently, Steven Gerrard's no.2 at Al-Ettifaq, Ian Foster to take the reins at Home Park. This will be the Pilgrims first game under the new boss and it will be interesting to see if they set up any differently and he could be tempted to opt for a 3-4-3 strategy.

Team news

Charles Ondo is away with Equatorial Guinea at the Africa Cup of Nations and he joined a huge unavailable list for Moore, with as many as 11 players out injured. Both first choice goalkeepers are on the treatment table, so again it will be Jacob Chapman between the sticks for the Terriers.

Ian Foster has pretty much a full squad at his disposal, with only Macaulay Gillesphey a doubt and Michael Copper confirmed as out. However, attacking loan duo Finn Azaz and Luke Cundle have been recalled by their parent clubs.

Match odds

The Betfred traders have this one extremely close as you would imagine, with Huddersfield a slight 13/10 favourite and Plymouth a 13/8 shot. The draw is priced at 12/5, if you fancy the sides to cancel one another out.

Goals are expected on Saturday afternoon with over 2.5 goals at 4/6 and Both Teams to Score at 8/15.

Huddersfield to win and BTTS - 3/1

Neither of these sides could keep a clean sheet if their lives depended on it. Town have just one (in a freak 3-0 win over Blackburn) in their last 11 league games, whilst BTTS has landed in Argyle's last five matches.

I'm going for the West Yorkshire side to win this with home advantage and the Pilgrims still finding their feet under new boss Foster.

Hudders to win and BTTS 3-1

Both teams to have 19.5+ booking points - 11/10

This should be a feisty affair, with so much on the line and we should see tackles flying in from either side.

Both teams have some combative players in new Chelsea loanee Alex Matos and Ben Wiles for Huddersfield, as well as Adam Randall and Jordan Houghton for Plymouth.

I think we will see at least two cards for each of these desperate outfits.
