Games at the bottom of the Championship, at this stage of the season, don’t come any bigger than this. Huddersfield Town host Millwall in a relegation six-pointer at the John Smith’s Stadium, with kick-off at 15:00 on Saturday afternoon. A defeat here won’t spell relegation given how many teams are still in the mix, but a win could alleviate the pressure both clubs are feeling at this moment in time.

With so much on the line, here is my Huddersfield vs Millwall prediction.

Huddersfield vs Millwall Tips

  • BTTS and draw @ 100/30
  • Correct score 1-1 @ 5/1

Team News

Huddersfield manager André Breitenreiter is likely to continue with Bojan Radulović up front after the number nine scored against Stoke, with Jack Rudoni likely to play just behind him. Sorba Thomas should continue at wing-back, with Oliver Turton, Josh Ruffels and Brodie Spencer all still out.

For Millwall, Neil Harris could ring the changes after a disappointing 2-1 defeat to basement club Rotherham United, but it was a game the London side should have won. Zian Fleming and Michael Obafemi may well start up front again together, but Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Romain Esse, Ryan Longman and Danny McNamara could be thrown into the side as Harris looks for an instant response.

Match Odds

Hudddersfield are 13/10 to win this game, giving them an implied win probability of 43%, while Millwall are priced at 2/1 to take all three points. A draw can be backed at 2/1, BTTS is 10/11 and over 2.5 goals is 5/4

BTTS and draw @ 100/30

I simply cannot pick a winner between these two teams, due to the severe lack of quality on show. Both of them have been poor of late, with Huddersfield picking up just two points from their last five, and Millwall gaining five from their last five matches.

The 2-1 defeat to Rotherham sets alarm bells ringing in my head for Millwall and it feels like Harris’ new-manager bounce may have already run out of steam. Meanwhile, Huddersfield drew with Stoke, so I can see these two sharing the spoils in west Yorkshire.

BTTS feels like a sensible pick to add to the equation given the frailty of both defences. That selection has won in 27 of Huddersfield’s 40 games this term, while Millwall’s last two have ended BTTS.

Correct score 1-1 @ 5/1

I fancy picking out a correct score for this one for several reasons. First of all, these are two poor sides so we are likely to get a low-scoring affair. However, with the lack of confidence obvious from both XIs, and the situation they both find themselves in, not losing is perhaps more critical than winning this particular fixture.

Huddersfield have drawn three of their last six, and two of those have finished 1-1, while Millwall have had two 1-1 scorelines in their last five outings. I believe with the tension hampering both teams, we could well see a 1-1 draw at the John Smith’s. I’m more than happy with this selection at 5/1
