Result - Liverpool

Everything points toward a Liverpool win on Tuesday and I'm finding it very difficult to come up with reasons why that won't be the case. The Reds have won all five league phase games so far, beating AC Milan (1-3), Bologna (2-0), RB Leipzig (0-1), Bayer Leverkusen (4-0) and Real Madrid (2-0) en route to a maximum 15 points, which has them as outright leaders heading into match week six.

Girona, meanwhile, have lost four of their five matches, falling to defeat at home to Feyenoord (2-3) and away to Paris Saint-Germain (1-0), PSV Eindhoven (4-0) and Sturm Graz (1-0), only managing to beat a pointless Slovan Bratislava (2-0) in Spain. Michel's side are also winless in their last four games across all competitions and followed up a Copa del Rey exit to fourth-tier club UD Logrones on December 4 with a 3-0 home loss to Real Madrid on Saturday.

The Blanquivermells are at a low ebb and should be dealt with by the Premier League leaders who were afforded the weekend off following the postponement of Saturday's Merseyside derby due to adverse weather conditions.

Player Goals - Mohamed Salah (LIV) Anytime Scorer

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is currently leading the Premier League Golden Boot race - alongside Manchester City's Erling Haaland, who has made one more appearance - with a seven-game scoring streak, in which he has struck nine times, helping him to get up to 13 goals in the English top flight.

However, Salah hasn't been as prolific in the Champions League this term, netting just once in five appearances, although he has registered four assists in the competition.

The 32-year-old missed a penalty against Real Madrid last time out and will be desperate to improve his tally in Europe, so I think we will see the 'Egyptian King' giving it his all on Tuesday to try and push himself into contention in the Champions League Golden Boot race, too.

Girona have conceded nine times in Europe this season and shipped three goals at home to Real Madrid on Saturday, so the last player they want to face next is a determined Salah.

After bagging a brace in his last appearance against Newcastle United last Wednesday, I fancy Salah to bring his shooting boots from Tyneside to Spain.

Player Stats - Curtis Jones (LIV) 2+ Shots

Curtis Jones endured a relatively slow start to the season as injuries restricted his involvement, but the Reds Academy graduate has been showcasing his full range of talents over the past couple of months and is now a regular starter under Arne Slot.

The 23-year-old's first two Champions League appearances this term were as a substitute against Bologna and Leipzig but he has started his side's last two games in the competition and hasn't been shy to try his luck, shooting three times against Leverkusen and four times against Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Jones has taken at least two shots in three of his last five Premier League outings, including in last Wednesday's 3-3 draw at Newcastle where he scored with the first of his three efforts.

The England international has taken on a lot more responsibility in the final third of the pitch and with Alexis Mac Allister suspended for the midweek trip to Spain, Jones should receive plenty of minutes on Tuesday to get a couple of shots off.

Player Stats - Miguel Gutierrez (GIR) 1+ Shots

Rounding off this four-legged Bet Builder is Girona full-back Miguel Gutierrez, who is averaging 1.2 shots per game in this season's Champions League. He didn't register an attempt in his first or fifth match, against PSG and Sturm Graz, respectively, but shot once at home to Feyenoord, twice at home to Slovan Bratislava, and three times away to PSV.

The 23-year-old is also averaging 1.1 shots per game in La Liga this season, while in 2023/24 he averaged one shot per game in the Spanish top flight.

Gutierrez didn't muster an attempt against Real Madrid on Saturday but shot five times at Villarreal in his previous league outing and shot once against a couple of other big-hitters, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, earlier in the season, so looks like a good candidate to get one away at home to Liverpool.
