Girona vs Cadiz Prediction: Comfortable victory for the hosts

Girona take on Cadiz at Estadi Montilivi in La Liga on Saturday (20:00) with both teams having plenty to play for in the final weeks of the season. The hosts are still fighting to secure a spot in next season's Champions League, while Cadiz are fighting for top-flight survival.

Both sides' form has been up and down in recent weeks, with the two teams having won two of their last five. But I'm expecting an interesting battle here, as detailed in my Girona vs Cadiz predictions.

Girona vs Cadiz Betting Tips

  • Girona and both teams to score - Yes @ 2/1
  • Artem Dovbyk to score first @ 11/4

Match Odds

Girona are the 2/5 favourites to win this contest, implying a chance of 71.4%. Cadiz are priced at 7/1 to pick up the three points, although that gives them just a 12.5% chance. The draw can be backed at 18/5 (21.7%).

Both teams to score is valued at 5/6 and it has landed in 17 of Girona's 31 clashes in La Liga this season. Over 2.5 goals is on offer at 4/6.

Artem Dovbyk is the leading marksman in La Liga this term and has scored 17 goals. He is priced at 5/6 to find the net at any time on Saturday.

Team News

Joel Roca will be missing for Girona due to a long-term injury, while duo Viktor Tsyhankov and Ricard Artero are also in the treatment room. Ivan Martin will return to the fold, however, after serving his suspension in the defeat against Atletico Madrid last time out.

For the visitors, Jose Mari, Romingue Kouame, Luis Hernandez and Fede San Emeterio will all be unavailable for selection on Saturday due to injury. They will also be unavailable to call upon Javi Hernandez as he will serve a suspension for picking up too many yellow cards.

Girona and both teams to score - Yes @ 2/1

With Girona still fighting to ensure they finish the season in the top four and to guarantee Champions League football next term, they will be eager to bounce back from their defeat against rivals Atletico Madrid when they face relegation-threatened Cadiz.

They have shown throughout the campaign that they are not short of quality, and it certainly helps having the division's top goalscorer in their ranks. But Saturday's match will bring its own challenges, such as the fact that Cadiz have won two from their last five and are still three points off safety.

One of those victories also came against Atletico, who Girona just lost to, so they cannot afford to underestimate their opponents just by their league position. I think the hosts have it in them to pick up another important win here, but I can see Cadiz throwing a spanner in the works by getting on the scoresheet.

Artem Dovbyk to score first @ 11/4

As Girona have enjoyed an incredible season in the top-flight, so too has their striker Dovbyk. The Ukrainian international is 17 goals up for the season but his advantage in the race for the Golden Boot remains at one.

With his team still looking to secure Champions League football next term, they will be reliant on him to continue his goalscoring responsibilities in the final weeks of the campaign. Given how well he has performed this term, I feel very confident in backing him to score, but seeing as there is not much value in him scoring anytime, I like the 11/4 price for him to get the show on the road.
