Getafe vs Atletico Madrid Betting Tips

  • Atletico Madrid to win to nil @ 7/4
  • Highest scoring half - first half @ 21/10

Getafe have lost back-to-back matches to nil, going down 2-0 at the Coliseum to Athletic Club before a 1-0 defeat at Cadiz on Sunday. The Azulones are 10th and cannot qualify for Europe, but Jose Bordalas will be keen to ensure his side nails down a top-10 spot ahead of the likes of Deportivo Alaves, Sevilla and Osasuna, who are all lurking behind them in the table.

By contrast, Atletico have won their last three matches, the last two without conceding. Sunday's 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo hoisted them eight points clear of fifth-placed Athletic Club, who drew 2-2 at home to Osasuna the night before. Champions League football now looks certain to come back to the Wanda Metropolitano for an 11th consecutive campaign.

Getafe and Atletico played out a 3-3 thriller in December's reverse fixture; Atleti defender Stefan Savic was sent off on 38 minutes but the hosts went ahead six minutes later through Antoine Griezmann. Borja Mayoral levelled early in the second half for Getafe before Alvaro Morata and a second Grizemann goal looked to have made sure of the three points for Atleti.

Diego Simeone's side were to be denied, however, as Oscar Rodriguez and a stoppage time Mayoral penalty rescued a point for the visitors.

Team News

Getafe's hero at Wanda Metropolitano, Mayoral, has missed his side's last eight games and will be absent again on Wednesday, while Mauro Arambarri and Domingos Duarte are also absent.

Atleti have a few players sidelined themselves, notably Nahuel Molina, Thomas Lemar and Vitolo.

Getafe vs Atletico Madrid Odds

Getafe are 18/5 to win at home for the first time since March 16, giving them an implied win probability of 21.7%, while the visitors can be backed at 4/5 (55.6%), and the draw at 5/2.

Both teams to score is 1/1, over 2.5 goals is 11/20, and a repeat of December's 3-2 scoreline in favour of Atleti is 28/1.

Griezmann is 13/8 to score anytime, and 9/2 to be first on the scoresheet again.

Atletico Madrid to win to nil @ 7/4

A club that has little to play for and has lost their last two games to nil, against a club that can secure a top-four spot and has won without conceding in their last two. Wednesday's match has all the makings of an Atleti win to nil, and I'm happy to back it at 7/4.

It hasn't been a vintage season for Simeone and Atleti, particularly at the back where they have consistently showed vulnerabilities, but they've looked something like their old selves recently.

Getafe, meanwhile, have looked pretty toothless up front in recent weeks, and look to be sorely missing 15-goal top scorer Mayoral. Bordalas' side have struck just five times in his absence, blanking in five games, with the likes of Mason Greenwood and Jaime Mata failing to fire except in a 3-1 win over rock-bottom Almeria on March 27, where the former bagged a brace and the latter scored the other.

65% of Getafe's home games in La Liga this season have seen at least one team fail to score - only Valencia (67%) have recorded a higher number - while just 29% of Atleti's away outings have seen both teams score - only Rayo Vallecano (17%) are lower for that metric.

Atletico Madrid to win to nil vs Getafe at 7-4

Highest scoring half - first half @ 21/10

This selection piques interest as only Mallorca (11) have seen fewer second-half goals at home than Getafe (14) this season. They've scored just six times and conceded eight across 17 second halves at the Coliseum.

The first half has been the highest-scoring half in four of their last five games at home, and the only goal of the game at Cadiz on Sunday arrived in the 35th minute.

Meanwhile, Atleti's last away outing - a 1-0 win over Real Mallorca - saw Rodrigo Riquelme score the winner in the fifth minute.

Highest scoring half - first half in Getafe vs Atletico Madrid at 21-10
