Poland will make their European Championship bow on Friday as they face neighbours Germany (20:00 BST, ITV X). Group C looks to be a fairly even one, and having beaten Austria to reach these finals, Poland will hope to make a big impression on their debut.

They are facing one of the big guns early on however, and Germany will want to lay a marker down. Below you will find my Germany vs Poland predictions for this Friday night fixture.

Germany vs Poland Betting Tips

  • Lea Schuller to score two or more @ 5/2
  • Over 3.5 Germany goals @ 1/1

Team News

With Alexandra Popp, Svenja Huth, Marina Hegering and Merle Frohms all retiring after the Paris Olympics, this really is a new era for German football. Christian Wuck was given the job in March last year and hasn’t been too happy with performances over that time, but things have improved in 2025.

The main talking point surrounding this Euros squad was about Lena Oberdorf. The Bayern Munich star is probably Germany’s best player, but hasn’t played at all this season after tearing her ACL. In the end, she didn’t make it, with Elisa Senss taking her place in the squad.

Bayern’s Giulia Gwinn was named as captain by Wuck and has also suffered ACL injuries in both knees, but should play a big part in this tournament. Clubmate Linda Dallmann will be relied upon for creativity in the middle while Janina Minge will look to keep things tight at the heart of the defence.

Germany vs Poland Stats

  • Lea Schuller has scored 52 goals in 75 international appearances
  • Germany have scored 24 goals in their last five matches

Nina Patalon deserves credit for getting Poland to this tournament with two excellent displays against Austria, where their team spirit dragged them through. They’ve got a star striker in the form of Barcelona striker Ewa Pajor, who is a goalscoring sensation and will have to be lethal in front of goal this summer.

She plays in front of a fierce defensive unit including Ada Achcińska and Tanja Pawollek at the heart of midfield and Paulina Dudek and Oliwia Wos in defence - while Ewelina Kamczyk and Natalia Padilla Bidas can provide pace from the wings. They could cause a shock or two along the way.

Germany vs Poland Odds

Germany are the massive favourites for this opener, priced at 1/20 to get the job done at Arena St.Gallen. That gives them an implied win probability of 95%, while Poland are 40/1 to cause an earth-shattering shock. Even getting a point, priced at 12/1 would be some achievement against their nearest rivals.

Over 2.5 goals is 2/7, BTTS is 7/4 and Lea Schuller is the favourite to score at 5/2.

Lea Schuller to score two or more @ 5/2

Germany’s star striker should get plenty of chances given how her side have performed in 2025. After a bit of a rocky start under Wuck, they started firing in the Nations League, winning their last five games emphatically.

Schuller got 11 in 22 Frauen-Bundesliga matches this season for Bayern, which isn’t that impressive, but she has bagged five in six for Germany since the turn of the year. She’s got 52 goals in 75 for her country in total and is a reliable goalscorer with plenty of experience. Meanwhile, Poland have done well to reach this stage but it feels like this could be a baptism of fire for them in Switzerland.

Today's Football Fixtures

Over 3.5 Germany goals @ 1/1

Germany have been in superb form in front of goal of late. They battered Austria 6-0 in their most recent outing, the same team Poland beat 1-0 home and away to qualify for this tournament.

Although Poland are in decent nick, going unbeaten in their last 11, they haven’t faced any side at the top table of European football following their relegation from League A of the Nations League in July 2024.

Meanwhile, Germany’s recent run of scorelines, all wins, reads 6-0 v Austria, 4-0 v Netherlands, 6-1 and 4-1 v Scotland and 4-0 v Austria. They’ve scored 24 goals in their last five outings, and have scored over 3.5 goals in each of those fixtures. Let’s back it to come in again here.
