Germany enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 success over neighbours Poland in their European Championship opener, and they will be hoping to make it back-to-back successes when they face another bordering nation, Denmark on Tuesday afternoon (17:00, BBC Two).

The Danes narrowly lost 1-0 to Sweden, and now face a big ask to try and get out of this group, with Germany the favourites to qualify. Below you can find my Germany vs Denmark predictions featuring match odds and team news.

Germany vs Denmark Betting Tips

Team News

Germany suffered a major blow in their opening match as captain Giullia Gwinn suffered a nasty medial cruciate ligament injury against Poland. She is not only out for the rest of the tournament, but for the next fews months as a cautious estimate.

Carlotta Wamser should replace her at right-back, alongside new captain Janina Minge, Man City’s Rebecca Knaak and Sarai Linder in the back four. They will hope to keep another clean sheet along with goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Burger, formerly of Chelsea, while Lea Schuller will hope to add to the goal she bagged at the top end of the pitch. Jule Brand also found the net and will continue on the right, as Germany look to put a marker down and book their place in the last eight.

Germany vs Denmark Stats

  • Germany have won five games in a row
  • Denmark created an xG of 0.44 in their defeat to Sweden
  • Schuller has 53 goals in 76 caps

Meanwhile Denmark boss Andree Jeglertz will hope for a response after a disappointing defeat in the opener, but he isn’t likely to rip up the tactical game plan that got them to this tournament. That means the back three of Emma Faerge, Stine Ballisager and Katrine Veje should remain untouched while Pernille Harder of Bayern Munich, will start up top and look to score against some of her clubmates.

Josefine Hasbo and Signe Bruun are two players who will be keen to break into the starting XI, but you have to feel that the manager will approach this one defensively, and hope to nick something late on. Janni Thomsen and Amalie Vangsgaard will hope to get amongst the goals after failing to impress against the Swedes.

Germany vs Denmark Odds

Germany are 1/3 to win this match, giving them an implied win probability of 75% for this second group game. A draw can be backed at 9/2 while Denmark are a big price at 15/2 to secure the three points.

Over 2.5 goals is 1/2, BTTS is 8/11 and Schuller is the favourite to score first at 10/3.

Germany -1 @ 10/11

Germany are a level above the rest of the teams in their group and I’m expecting another positive performance from them here. The eight-time winners of this competition reached the final last time out against England but flopped to a group stage exit at the 2023 World Cup. Now they look to have reset and although they are not at the same level as Spain right now, they could go far.

They created an xG of 2.77 v Poland while Denmark were second best against Sweden, losing 1-0 but being dominated statistically. I don’t think Germany, with all their individual talent, will have too much trouble getting past Denmark as they target six wins in a row.

They’ve scored six past Scotland and Austria and four past the Netherlands during that winning run, so I’m not expecting them to struggle for goals in this one either.

Price Boost - Germany to win both halves, Brand to score or assist, Schuller 2+ shots on target @ 13/2

I think Germany are worth backing to the hilt here, and so this Price Boost look like good value in my eyes. I’ve already explained why I think they will dominate so I don’t think it’s a big ask to expect them to win both halves, while Brand scored in the opener against Poland and registered an assist.

She can play a big role again from the right wing and could be a breakout star of this tournament at the age of 22, while Schuller will be hoping she can be on the end of a couple of through balls from the Wolsburg winger. Schuller barely needs an introduction, but she’s now scored four goals in her last three international matches, and will be the biggest threat up front.

I’m expecting her to score, but this bet asks for her to have 2+ shots on target, which is also more than doable in this fixture. 53 goals in 76 caps is nothing to be sniffed at.
