Both teams have impressed during the tournament in Slovakia and this is expected to be a tight contest on paper. Below I have laid out my Germany U21 vs France U21 predictions, supported by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

SC Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu will continue to operate between the posts and should once again receive protection from a back four of Nnamdi Collins, Max Rosenfelder, Bright Arrey-Mbi and Nathaniel Brown.

Mainz 05 attacker Nelson Weiper may be considered to start ahead of Nicolo Tresoldi in the final third after coming off the bench to score against Italy in the quarter-finals.

Nick Woltemade, who is currently the tournament's top scorer with five goals, will continue to offer one of Germany's main attacking threats, while he has also turned provider on three occasions. The VfB Stuttgart attacker is continuing where he left off for his club after an impressive campaign in the Bundesliga.

Germany U21 vs France U21 Stats

  • The two teams drew 2-2 in their last meeting in November
  • Nick Woltemade (GER) is the top scorer at the Euros with five goals

France boss Gerald Baticle is likely to keep the faith with a back four of Ismael Doukoure, Chrislain Matsima, Castello Lukeba and Quentin Merlin.

Rennes' Djaoui Cisse is set to start a third consecutive game in the middle of the park after registering three goals and an assist in his last two outings.

Villarreal striker Thierno Barry could be considered for a recall if Baticle decides to freshen things up against Germany.

Germany U21 vs France U21 Odds

Germany are 6/4, which has an implied probability of 40%, to prevail in regulation time - and Die U21 have won three of their four matches at the Euros inside 90 minutes.

The two teams shared a 2-2 draw when they met for a friendly back in November. If you think they won't be separated after normal time, the stalemate is available at 12/5.

France have won their past three games in 90 minutes and they are 7/4 to triumph on Wednesday.

There have been goals at both ends in both France and Germany's previous three appearances and BTTS can be backed at 1/2 this time around.

Germany U21 or draw and both teams to score @ 11/10

With both teams just one game away from the final we can expect them to come out all guns blazing in this semi-final, and it should make for box office viewing on Wednesday evening.

There are so many talented players across both squads and this will be a real test for them to see who can stand up and deliver when the pressure is truly on.

Germany and France have impressed over the course of the tournament but only one of them will contest Saturday's showpiece in Bratislava. Having seen them both in action, I think if anyone is to wrap this up in regulation time, it will be Germany.

While they retreated in the second half against England in the group stage, Die U21 still managed to hold on for the victory, so they are well-equipped for playing on the back foot as much as they are leading the charge.

France will of course pose them problems and they cannot be underestimated, which is why I think covering the draw for insurance may be wise for this contest. The two sides couldn't be separated the last time we met and it could be the same again with a place in a European final on the line.

I think we can expect goals at both ends, however, given the fact that BTTS has struck in each of their last three matches, while they are both blessed with prolific goalscorers in Woltemade (GER) and Mathys Tel (FRA).

Nick Woltemade anytime goalscorer @ 5/4

When it comes to backing someone to get on the scoresheet, I cannot look past Germany's leading man. The 23-year-old has been brilliant in Slovakia so far with five goals and three assists, so he is very much Die Mannschaft's source of inspiration out on the pitch.

He has had a very good year domestically with Stuttgart, netting 12 goals in the Bundesliga, as well as winning the DFB-Pokal. Woltemade is starting to make a name for himself and the world is taking notice. The striker is bound to have drawn some more eyes on him with his performances over the past couple of weeks.

The forward is Germany's greatest attacking threat and France will need to be at their very best defensively to keep him quiet - I just don't think they will be able to.
