Germany looked superb in their opening night 5-1 win over Scotland, and laid down a marker to the rest of the tournament that they are genuine contenders to go all the way on home soil. Now they travel to Stuttgart to take on Hungary in their second group match (17:00, BBC One), knowing another win will take them into the last 16.

Hungary, many people’s dark horses for the tournament, were disappointing in the first half of their 3-1 defeat to Switzerland, but rallied in the second period. Getting out of the group now looks tough for them, and they will have to cause a shock here to give themselves a fighting chance. Below you can find my Germany vs Hungary Bet Builder Tips.

Germany to win to nil

I, like most other viewers, was suitably impressed with Germany on Friday night. Julian Nagelsmann seems to have struck a perfect balance with this team, as Joshua Kimmich and Robert Andrich sit deep in midfield and allow Wirtz, Musiala and Ilkay Gundogan to cause chaos behind the number nine.

They looked so smart against Scotland, and although Steve Clarke’s men did themselves no favours from a defensive point of view, Germany tore them to shreds. Gundogan was terrific in the number 10 position, while Kai Havertz and substitute Niclas Fullkrug both proved their worth as central strikers.

There’s a lot to like about this Germany team, and but for a freak own goal, they would have kept a clean sheet to boot. Scotland didn’t manage a single shot on target across the 90 minutes, and I think we could see something similar here, in another big home win.

Germany vs Hungary Odds

Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz to score

I know it was a small sample size, but I just don’t know if any side in this competition can contain Musiala and Wirtz. Germany’s two young stars were phenomenal in that opener, and both found the net within 20 minutes. If Nagelsmann chooses to continue with Havertz up top, which he likely will do, it means the goals are more likely to come from those supporting him rather than the number nine himself.

Their fluidity and movement of the attacking quartet will be tough for Hungary to contain, and they looked more open than expected against Switzerland, conceding three goals. They did improve in that second half and could pose an attacking threat, but I think defensively they will come undone. This could turn out to be another disappointing tournament for the ‘dark horses’. As a result, I believe both Musiala and Wirtz can find the net again, as the party in Germany begins to ramp up.
