Fulham vs Rotherham Prediction: Cottagers to extend third round misery for Millers

Premier League outfit Fulham start their FA Cup campaign with a home tie against Championship strugglers Rotherham, who have rarely progressed past this stage of the competition.

The Millers have not won away from home all season and are unlikely to claim their first against Marco Silva’s men, who should move on to the fourth round for the fifth consecutive season.

Marco Silva has no new first team injury concerns, with long-term absentees Tim Ream and Adama Traore still out with respective calf and hamstring injuries.

However, there will be a trio of internationals missing from Friday night's game, as Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Fode Ballo-Toure have all been called up by their national teams for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

For Leam Richardson’s Rotherham, the likes of Tyler Blackett, Lee Peltier, Fred Onyedinma, Shane Ferguson, Cameron Humphreys, Andre Green and Grant Hall were all missing for their trip to Blackburn last time out and are unlikely to feature.

The draw gives odds of 5/1 and Fulham striker Raul Jimenez is the favourite to score anytime at 9/10.

The Cottagers have clicked into gear at home in recent outings, winning four of their last five at Craven Cottage.

This run has seen the likes of title-chasing Arsenal and European hopefuls West Ham leave West London with no points, whilst Fulham have scored 15 during this time.

The Millers on the other hand picked up just three points on the road all season, with three draws the best the Yorkshire club could manage.

Currently bottom of the Championship, Rotherham have rarely troubled defences away from the New York Stadium, netting just eight times on the road in the league.

They also have not had much joy in this competition, notably at this round, with The Millers progressing to the fourth round just once this century.

Rotherham’s FA Cup hoodoo looks set to continue, with Fulham expected to comfortably achieve victory.

Each of Fulham’s last five wins at Craven Cottage has seen at least two goals scored by the home side, including two consecutive 5-0 victories over West Ham and Nottingham Forest.

The potency in front of goal has helped The Cottagers away from relegation troubles, with only Wolves netting more times than Fulham in the bottom half of the Premier League.

The hosts have the personnel to grab plenty of goals on Friday, particularly as Rotherham have the leakiest defence in the Championship with 50 goals already conceded.
