Frosinone vs Udinese Betting Tips

  • Udinese or Draw, Under 9.5 Corners and Under 3.5 Goals @ 3/1 via #PickYourPunt

Serie A’s biggest game this weekend is a winner-takes-it-all relegation clash between newly promoted Frosinone and Udinese.

Whichever of these two sides lose on Sunday is probably destined to Serie B, although a potential relegation play-off is also on the cards should Empoli draw against Roma.

Last weekend, the visitors were saved by a stoppage-time penalty kick and are still hoping to avoid their first relegation in 31 years.

Udinese, a small, yet forward-thinking club, that has even played in the Champions League and signed players like Alexis Sanchez and Rodrigo De Paul, are only a point above the drop.

All season long, Udinese have been considered almost ‘too good to go down’ and the team has really struggled to hang on to leads in tight situations.

They’ve also squandered a huge number of points in the last few minutes of games, but, at least, last month’s change on the bench has produced the desired effect

Hiring the inexperienced Fabio Cannavaro in April seemed like a big risk, but under the guidance of the former world champion, the Friulani have only lost one out of five games.

Now, with 90 minutes to go, they have destiny in their own hands but will have to face the toughest possible opponent. In fact, Frosinone can play for two out of three results: a draw would see them saved, even if Empoli win against Roma.

After having spent the vast majority of the season outside of the bottom three, the hosts would not want to depend on the result at the ‘Stadio Castellani’. On paper, Udinese remain the stronger side, but Frosinone’s home form has been excellent.

Team News:

Frosinone will be withouth Mazzitelli and Bonifazi who are not at their best and should start on the bench. Brescianini and Barrenechea will play in midfield, with Valeri and Zortea deployed on the flanks.

In attack, Soulè and Harroui will support Cheddira. The defense trio will be made up of Romagnoli, Lirola and Okoli.

In the Udinese’s camp Pereyra is in contention with Davis to start from the first minute to support Lucca up front.

Success is injured, but French World Cup winner Thauvin might be fit to come on the second half. Kamara and Ehizibue will play on the wings, with the latter favored over Ebosele. Walace will be the playmaker, with Samardzic and Payero at his sides. Silvestri, Lovric and Deulofeu are also unavailable.

Big odds for all the three possible outcomes, with Frosinone slight favourite (7/5) to win the match.

The hosts have only two one of their last 16 Serie A games, but have collected 87% of their league points (35 in total) at the ‘Benito Stirpe’.

The Ciociari could avoid being relegated from Italy’s top flight for the first time ever and have remained unbeaten in seven of the last eight games (five draws).

Udinese have shared the points 19 times this season, a record in Europe’s top five leagues (the runners-up are Mallorca, with 15 draws), but have only lost two of their last seven on the road.

The draw (odds 23/10) might not be a bad outcome for the visitors, who in that case would be relegated only if Empoli beat Roma.

However, Udinese have obtained more away (3) than home successes (1) this season, therefore the victory for the ‘Zebrette’ pays 2/1.

The hosts have kept five clean sheets in the last eight games, whereas Udinese’s last four games have seen less than three goals.

24 out of 36 Frosinone’s games have seen both teams to score as the odds a slightly higher for Under 2.5 Goals (4/5) than for the Over 2.5 (10/11).

Under 2.5 Goals @ 4/5

Credit to Fabio Cannavaro for managing, in a very short period of time, to make his players react to a situation that looked desperate.

Udinese’s quality is not a secret, but in the last week the team has also demonstrated a strong character.

Frosinone has Serie A’s 10th-best attack, with 44 goals scored (only four less than Lazio), but thanks to their recent defensive solidity, they’re inching closer to achieving a historical salvation.

In fact, the newly-promoted Ciociari have kept five clean sheets in their last seven games and have been defeated only once (5-0 by Inter at home) in the last eight matches.

With so much on the line, backing a cagey game seems the most obvious choice.

Udinese or Draw, Under 9.5 Corners and Under 3.5 Goals @ 3/1 via #PickYourPunt

This is a more adventurous bet, for those who believe Udinese will, ultimately, be saved this weekend.

The visitors have on five of their last seven away games, including against Juventus, Lazio and Bologna.

But Frosinone have collected 25 points (one more than Monza and Napoli) and have failed to score only four times at the ‘Benito Stirpe’.

If Empoli takes the lead early, this game would probably become highly entertaining, with plenty of chances on both sides.

Thirteen out of Frosinone’s 18 home games have ended with both teams on the scoresheet and 22 Udinese’s games have produced the same outcome.
