France will be looking to secure a spot in the Uefa Women's European Championship knockout rounds when they take on Wales on Wednesday night at AFG Arena (20:00 BST, live on ITV).

First Goalscorer - Marie-Antoinette Katoto

Group D was considered the 'group of death' at this summer's Euros but France have given themselves every chance of finishing in top spot.

A place in the quarter-finals is up for grabs on Wednesday if they beat Wales and England fail to beat the Netherlands.

Marie-Antoinette Katoto looks set to play a vital role for Les Bleues, as she netted 12 goals and provided three assists for Paris Saint-Germain last season and, while also registering 24 shots on target from just 42 efforts.

The 26-year-old opened the scoring against England last time out, and I'm backing her to do the same against Wales here.

Wales were comfortably beaten in their opening group game against the Netherlands and I think they'll suffer a similar fate against the French.

Les Bleues have scored more than one goal in each of their last eight games and all of those fixtures have been against teams ranked higher than Wales, who are the lowest ranked side at Euro 2025.

France have scored four goals against Switzerland, five against Belgium and three against Brazil over the course of their last five games, so that kind of form suggests that there'll be plenty of goalmouth action at AFG Arena.

Player Shown Any Card - Susan Woodham Lily

My final pick is for Wales defender Susan Woodham Lily to find her way into the referee's notebook.

The 24-year-old was booked in Wales' defeat to the Netherlands and she's expected to be part of a backline trying to contain the likes of Katoto, Sandy Baltimore and Delphine Cascarino.

In addition, the Crystal Palace defender was cautioned four times during the 2024/25 Women's Super League season, so I think she'll have her hands full trying to slow down a potent French attack.
