France vs Germany Bet Builder Tips: 9/1 shot for French success

Boy, am I excited for this Women’s European Championship quarter-final. Two of the historical big guns collide in the last eight on Saturday as France face Germany (20:00 BST, ITV1) for a place in the final four. 

Germany have flattered to deceive so far but have so often turned up when it really matters in these major tournaments. Below you will find my France vs Germany Bet Builder Tips as we search for a decent winner. 

France vs Germany Odds

France to win

This is a really intriguing quarter-final. Germany are ranked as the third-best team in the world and France are 10th, but from what I’ve seen so far at this tournament - I’m far more comfortable backing Laurent Bonadei’s side to get the job done. 

His big calls to drop Eugenie Le Sommer and Wendie Renard look to have paid off and France won three out of three in their group. They look like a far more exciting attacking outfit than the one that lost on penalties to Australia at the World Cup two years ago, and that opening win over England gives me massive confidence that they can overcome Germany here. 

The Germans edged past Poland and Denmark and were then hammered 4-1 by Sweden having been reduced to 10 early on. With captain Giulia Gwinn out of action through injury and her replacement Carlotta Wamser now suspended, they are severely weakened at the back. I’ll back France to get through in 90 minutes.

Marie-Antoinette Katoto to score

Coming up against this French attack will be a big ask for the German defence, and Janina Minge and Rebecca Knaak will have to be at their best to keep them out. France scored 11 goals in their three group games, impressively hitting five past the Dutch in their last outing. 

Their key striker is Lyon’s Marie-Antoinette Katoto and she’s already got two goals to her name from two starts, having been rested against a poor Welsh side. She’s now scored 40 goals in 58 international appearances with five of those coming in 2025, and will have to perform if France are to go deeper into this competition. I’m happy to back her to score against a weakened German defence. 

Lea Schuller to score

Although I think Germany will lose this game, I do think they pose an attacking threat. Lea Schuller has also scored twice at this tournament, and the Bayern Munich striker has seven goals in nine games in 2025 for her country. 

A dominant goalscorer, she should be able to take advantage of any chances that come her way. Although France have been flying going forward, they are yet to keep a clean sheet, conceding once against Wales and England, and twice v the Dutch. We therefore can expect Germany to score at some point, and if they do, it will probably be Schuller. 

Over 8.5 corners

This should be an encounter with plenty of attacking at both ends, which should lead to a decent number of corners. Sweden had six corners against Germany, while the Germans themselves managed 10 and seven in the fixtures in which they retained a full complement of players. 

There were nine corners in Netherlands v France, eight in France v Wales and seven in England v France, but with these two both having to throw everything at it to stay in the competition, I think the bar of 8.5 corners should be exceeded.
