There's little riding on this European Championship qualifier at the Allianz Riviera on Saturday evening (19:45), as Gibraltar travel north to Nice to play France in Group B.

The hosts are already assured of qualification to Euro 2024 after winning all six group games, while Gibraltar are still looking for their first goal and point of the campaign.

The reverse fixture in June saw France win 3-0, a scoreline Gibraltar would probably be happy to repeat given their travails away from home, which has seen them concede four and five to Wales and Greece, respectively, in their last two.

France vs Gibraltar Betting Tips:

  • Over 12.5 corners @ 5/6
  • France -2 half-time handicap @ 5/6

Team News

France have already booked their ticket for the tournament in Germany next year, but they've still named a strong squad for their last two group games.

Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud headline a star-studded list of names, but the likes of Marcus Thuram and Randal Kolo Muani will be pushing for starts, while PSG wonderkid Warren Zaire-Emery could make his senior debut.

Defenders Louie Annesley and Ethan Britto were both called up for Gibraltar's internationals in October but haven't made the cut this time, nor King's Lynn Town midfielder Kian Roan.

Stalwarts Roy Chipolina and Liam Walker, Gibraltar's most-capped players, will expect to add to their appearance totals against Didier Deschamps' side.

Match Odds

The odds very much reflect the stark difference in quality available to the countries, with France as short as 1/500 to win. A draw is priced at 66/1, with the even unlikelier possibility of an away win the same price.

Les Bleus scored three goals in Gibraltar, and it's 10/3 for them to keep it below four again.

Over 12.5 corners @ 5/6

France's domination in the first game resulted in 11 corners for the two-time World Cup winners, while a couple for Gibraltar brought the match total to 13.

Conceding corners has been a regular occurrence for the European minnows, who have surrendered 11, 10, 16, nine, 14, 11, 19 and 12 in their eight matches this calendar year. The 19 corners conceded came away in the Netherlands, and France are likely to pose an even tougher test for Los Llanis.

It should be another case of attack versus defence in Nice on Saturday, which lends itself to a potentially corner-heavy game for Gibraltar yet again.

France -2 half-time handicap @ 5/6

France were two-up at half-time in the reverse fixture at Estádio Algarve, and in front of a home crowd this time, I'm backing them to at least go one better here.

Gibraltar have actually been pretty solid in the first half of games, but their last away trip - to Wales in a friendly last month - saw them ship four to a second-string side.

There are likely to be several French players eyeing a boost to their international goal tallies here, while some will want to make an impression to improve their chances of making Euro 2024 next year, so they're unlikely to go easy on their opponents.
