Football Bet of the Day: Toffees look too tough for wounded Wolves

Having your manager and star striker agree on new contracts in the same week would galvanise most clubs. However, Wolves are clearly not most clubs, and they celebrated those contract signings by being beaten 3-1 at home by relegation rivals Leeds United on Saturday.
Molineux is not a happy place to be right now, and the few fans who choose to turn up for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Everton (19:45 BST, Sky Sports+), which features in my Football Bet of the Day, look set to endure further misery.
Football Bet of the Day - Tuesday, September 23
- Everton to beat Wolves @ 6/4

Saturday's result has left Wanderers bottom of the Premier League as the only side yet to pick up a point this term, and you feel a midweek Carabao Cup clash with in-form Everton is the last thing Vitor Pereira needs.
The Toffees were also beaten at the weekend, but they were only narrowly defeated 2-1 by Premier League champions Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, and they put in another strong performance under David Moyes.
With Wolves conceding 12 goals and scoring just three times while losing their first five Premier League games, it is no surprise to see they are outsiders for this clash with Everton.
Wanderers are lucky to even have a third-round tie, too, as they left things very late against a poor West Ham side in the previous round, requiring two late goals from Jorgen Strand Larsen to salvage a 3-2 victory.
The Norwegian made his return against Leeds on Saturday but is still lacking fitness and may not be able to muster up the same heroics this time around, leaving Wanderers looking even more vulnerable.
Everton, meanwhile, will not be as shell-shocked from their weekend defeat as their hosts, given Liverpool’s start to the season, and look far better placed to bounce back at Molineux, where they won 3-2 just three weeks ago.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Wolves have lost all five PL games this season
- Everton won 3-2 at Molineux on Aug 30
- Everton are unbeaten in the last three H2Hs (W2, D1)
- David Moyes has won seven of his last 10 matches against Wolves (D1, L2)
The Toffees have only lost two of their last 10 games and have more than enough attacking talent in Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Iliman Ndiaye, Tyler Dibling and Dwight McNeil to punish a Wolves defence which has gone 10 matches without a clean sheet.
Wolves are low on confidence, while Everton have it flowing through their veins, and as if the Toffees needed any more encouragement, they are unbeaten in three head-to-heads, winning twice, and their manager’s efforts against Wanderers make for even better reading.
Moyes’ sides have lost just two of their last 10 clashes with Wolves, winning seven of those and scoring an impressive 19 goals. The Scot is unlikely to have that strong record damaged on Tuesday.
Wolves are seriously struggling to create chances since losing Matheus Cunha, with their xG figure of 4.4 the fourth-lowest of any Premier League team.
It is hard to see them finding much joy against an Everton side who are in fine form, have greater depth, and better attackers.
