Nigeria vs Tanzania Odds

Nations, but the Super Eagles have a point to prove as they get their Group C campaign underway at the Fez Stadium.

Eric Chelle's team will not be competing at next summer's World Cup after failing to qualify. Nigeria finished second in Group C and lost just one of their 10 qualifiers, but they were knocked out by DR Congo in the second round.

Chelle's side will now look to prove a point and their sole aim will be to win their first AFCON crown since 2013.

The Super Eagles have some incredible talent throughout their squad and they will be confident their creative forwards can steer them to glory.

Tuesday's opening group match has given them a relatively easy start and Nigeria's toughest assignment will come against Tunisia on December 27.

A routine win looks to be on the cards when they face Tanzania, especially with the Taifa Stars in poor form. Hemed Morocco's team have never won a match at AFCON and they will be low on confidence, having failed to win any of their last seven games in all competitions.

A pair of 1-0 defeats to Niger and Zambia during qualification for the World Cup showed how much work Tanzania have to do to be competitive and they have been handed one of the toughest opening fixtures of the tournament.

Tanzania have issues across the park, but their inability to score goals has not helped their cause. During their seven-match winless run, they failed to net in five of those and that record should worsen on Tuesday.

Nigeria's defence will contain the likes of Calvin Bassey, Semi Ayaji and Zaidu Sanusi and they should dominate their opponents from the outset.

Wilfred Ndidi is likely to anchor the midfield, allowing the likes of Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen to prosper.

Osimhen scored eight goals during seven qualifiers for the World Cup and he should be able to help Nigeria rack up the goals against a Tanzania side that are just hoping to keep the scoreline respectable before they face Uganda on Saturday, which is their easiest fixture in Group C.
