Football Bet of the Day: 8/1 Bet Builder for two in-form goalscorers in Seattle

Co-hosts USA will look to seal their place in the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup when they face Australia in Seattle on Friday (12pm local/8pm BST, BBC One). The Stars and Stripes were impressive in their 4-1 victory over Paraguay last week.

Both teams were impressive in their opening fixtures and would both be tempting bets to win this clash. USA are the 3/5 favourites on home turf, while Australia are 9/2 to collect the three points. The draw is available at 3/1.

Both Teams To Score - Yes looks enticing for punters at 1/1 because it's struck in the previous two meetings, with the latest coming in October 2025.

My Bet of the Day is bold but I have to be in this column. I'm expecting an exciting tussle in Seattle and one that will be filled with goals.

While Over 3.5 Goals can be backed at 9/4, I'm seeking greater value by looking at the goalscorer markets.

I've put together a two-legged Bet Builder featuring a player from both teams. For USA, I've gone for Folarin Balogun, who bagged a brace against Paraguay. The front man now has 11 goals in 28 outings for the Stars and Stripes.

The former England youth international has also just had a fruitful 2025/26 campaign in France with Monaco. He netted 13 goals in 30 Ligue 1 appearances for Les Rouges et Blanc, and he's already making his mark on the world stage.

With the service provided by Christian Pulisic and Malik Tillman, I'm confident we'll see Balogun on the scoresheet against the Aussies.

For the Socceroos, I'm opting for Nestory Irankunda, who was a real live wire in the win over Turkey as he netted the opening goal. It looks as though he glides across the pitch with his speed and trickery, and I think he'll ask questions of USA's defence that Paraguay were unable to.

Irankunda now has six goals in 16 appearances for his country, and I think he'll register number seven in Seattle.
