Football Bet of the Day: Elche to profit against Sevilla

Monday night's La Liga action comes from Martinez Valero as Elche host Sevilla (20:00 GMT, Premier Sports 1). The hosts sit 11th in the table but a victory here will move them up to eighth, six points off the top six.

Sevilla are having a terrible campaign so far as they lie just one point above the relegation zone, having lost three league games on the bounce ahead of this clash. I have picked out my Football Bet of the Day from this fixture, which you can check out below.

Elche vs Sevilla Odds

Four of Elche's 10 home games in La Liga have ended in a stalemate this season, with the draw marketed at 11/5.

Sevilla have won three of their nine away trips in the top flight to date and they are 23/10 to get back to winning ways.

The visitors have failed to score in each of their previous four competitive matches and BTTS - No is priced at 10/11.

For my Bet of the Day, I have selected Elche to win at 5/4 because this offers real value. They have one of the strongest home records in La Liga, with just one defeat so far, having won five of their 10 fixtures here.

Their recent form has been up and down but they still have two victories in their previous five appearances in the league and they should be spurred on by the fact that they are facing a Sevilla side who are in real danger.

One point is currently keeping the visitors outside the bottom three and they make Monday's trip off the back of three consecutive defeats in La Liga, having failed to score in each of them.

This should bode well for Elche as they have a respectable defensive record at home with just eight goals conceded across 10 matches. Los Franjiverdes' sole defeat did come on their latest appearance here against Villarreal but they did triumph in the two home games before that against Girona and Rayo Vallecano.

On both of those occasions, Elche recorded clean sheets. So for a Sevilla outfit who are struggling to show any impetus in the final third, this could be a daunting away trip.

With Sevilla spiralling, the visitors will try and take some confidence from having drawn with Elche in the reverse fixture back in September - but a lot has happened since then.

Boss Matias Almeyda knows this will be a tough game, which has been made even harder with his side's recent struggles in attack. Confidence is likely very low in Los Nervionenses' camp and this might just play right into Elche's hands.

Sevilla will have seen that fellow strugglers Valencia were able to take a point off Elche in the last round of fixtures, though, which may give them a glimmer of hope. However, Valencia were at home and Elche have one of the worst away records in the division, having only mustered four points from nine fixtures thus far.

Home is where they are getting their most joy and it is their results and performances here that have seen them climb the table, with the chance to move into the top 10 with three points on Monday.

Given how strong they have been on home turf, and Sevilla's recent troubles, Elche should have enough about them to claim victory.
