Newcastle United vs Manchester City Odds

Newcastle will be hoping to build on their 13-game unbeaten streak at St. James' Park as Manchester City come to town for what is set to be a cracking Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Tuesday night.

Eddie Howe's side have been impressive in defending their title up until this point, beating Bradford City 4-1 in the third round, dispatching Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the fourth round and narrowly progressing past Fulham 2-1 in the quarter-finals.

In addition, Newcastle have a decent record against City, winning two, drawing one and losing one of their last four home meetings and beating Pep Guardiola's men in each of the last two Carabao Cup clashes between the pair.

However, City come into Tuesday's tie on the back of the 10-1 demolition of Exeter City in the FA Cup at the weekend to end a run of three consecutive draws - including their last visit to the North East in a stalemate at Sunderland.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • Newcastle United have won the last to matches against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup
  • Newcastle United have scored at least twice in all of their past 13 home games
  • Manchester City come into this game on the back of a 10-1 over Exeter in the FA Cup

Newcastle are 11/5 on Tuesday, giving them an implied win probability of 31.3%, the draw is 11/4 and City are 23/20.

It's fair to say the Toon Army have been involved in some high-scoring games of late - just this week they beat Leeds United 4-3 and Bournemouth on penalties after a 3-3 draw. That form suggests something of a shootout will take place on Tuesday, which is why I'm backing a Newcastle win and both team to score.

St. James' Park will be bouncing, Newcastle have the head-to-head form in their favour, and City have a Manchester derby to consider four days after this tie, so I think 18/5 for that bet looks a great price. City are full of goals but we know how Pep can get when it comes to rotating his side, and I think this City defence can get exposed at times.

Newcastle have scored at least twice in all of their past 13 home games, while both teams have scored in seven of the last eight, so let's back the Toon win and BTTS at 18/5.
