Football bet of the day

The FA Cup Third Round weekend is always a great chance to back an outsider and spot some value, so for Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day - I’ve done exactly that.

West Ham are in action against QPR (14:30, TNT Sports 5), and there’s massive value to be had at the London Stadium.

Football Bet of the Day - Sunday, January 11

  • QPR to beat West Ham @ 5/1

West Ham vs QPR Odds

Can you honestly believe this price? I was expecting around 3/1 for QPR to beat West Ham away from home, so when I saw 5/1, my mind was made up for Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day.

Do I need to go into West Ham’s dreadful form? Alright then. They lost a crunch encounter at home to Nottingham Forest in midweek which leaves them 18th in the Premier League, seven points behind the Tricky Trees. They are in desperate need of a miracle to stay in the top flight this term and the relationship between Nuno Espirito Santo and the board looks to be at breaking point.

There is nothing positive about West Ham United right now, and the last thing they need is a home FA Cup tie against a Championship outfit. The stadium isn’t going to be full by any means, with the toxic home fans now just waiting for the next thing to go wrong. Meanwhile, QPR will be followed by a loud and large away following, and they have enough attacking talent to put the Hammers under serious pressure.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • West Ham have lost five of their last six
  • QPR are three points off the play-offs in the Championship

Richard Kone is a beast of a striker, Rumarn Burrell is a handful, and wingers Kwame Poku and Koki Saito are tough to stop out wide. They sit 11th in the Championship, three points off the play-offs, but they beat Sheffiield Wednesday 3-0 last time out and I think will really fancy their chances against West Ham.

When you consider the fact West Ham are likely to make wholesale changes due to the fact that they have to prioritise staying in the Premier League, so the likes of Jarrod Bowen may not even feature. Meanwhile, QPR should name a strong XI and I think they might just be too strong given the circumstances, for West Ham right now.

5/1 is too big a price to ignore in my mind.
