Football Bet of the Day: Promotion hopefuls fancied on the road

The FA Cup Third Round begins on Friday night but for our Football Bet of the Day, we are heading north of the border where there looks to be excellent value in the Scottish Championship.
Read on for our Football Bet of the Day as Partick Thistle continue their promotion push away at Ross County (19:45 GMT).
Football Bet of the Day - Friday, January 9
- Partick Thistle (A) to beat Ross County @ 21/20

When these two met in the summer of 2023 it was in the play-offs, as Ross County rescued their Premiership status in dramatic fashion, coming from three goals down to win on penalties.
Since then, it’s been a rough ride for County, and they now find themselves mired in a relegation battle in the second tier. They host Partick Thistle on Friday night (19:45) and since they took the lead over Partick on gameweek three, things have gone badly wrong for the hosts.
They lost that game 3-1 and since then, County have been in the mire. Tony Docherty was sacked after just four wins in 15, and now Stuart Kettlewell is back to try and save the day.
"I’m delighted to return to the club I have spent 12 years of my life serving as player, coach co-manager and manager with some standout successes along the way," he said at his unveiling.
"We find ourselves in a fight and when asked I had no hesitation to accept the challenge.”
Odds correct at time of publishing.
This will be his first game back in charge of the club he spent two years at from 2018 to 2020, but it’s still difficult to imagine a drastic upturn in form, especially against a Partick side going well.
County have only won two goals all season - out of 19 in the league - so I’m going to back the away side to come away with all three points. Partick currently sit second, five points behind league leaders St. Johnstone and although their form has slightly dropped off with no wins in four league outings over Christmas, they got back on track with a 3-2 success over Greenock Morton last time out.
They came from two goals down in that one as Tony Watt scored a late winner and that victory should give them massive confidence and get Mark Wilson’s men back on track.
This could be a difficult test given Ross County have a new boss in charge, but I’m going to play things with a straight bat and back the team sitting second to beat the Scottish Championship’s bottom club.
