Football Bet of the Day: Lautaro can sink rivals

We’ve got another cracking day of football action coming our way this Wednesday and for our Football Bet of the Day I want to focus on the Milan derby, taking place at San Siro. This one, live on Premier Sports at 20:00, is the second-leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final, and the scores are level at 1-1. 

Below you can find my Football Bet of the Day as we search for another winner. 

Now having been quite strong on AC Milan in the first leg, I’m not going to completely throw my theories out with the bathwater here, although Inter Milan are now the favourites to progress to the final. The 1-1 draw was over three weeks ago now and a lot of football has been played by both teams during that time, with Inter progressing to the semi-finals of the Champions League over Bayern Munich. 

The nominated home side for this second leg did lose last time out in the league however, and that 1-0 defeat to Bologna has allowed Napoli to draw level on points with them as we head into the final run-in. The title race is certainly one to watch, but Inter have a genuine chance of winning a remarkable treble this season, just as they did back in 2010 under Jose Mourinho. 

Barcelona await in the Champions League semis, just as they did 15 years ago, while Inter won the title by just two points that year. If they are going to keep the dream alive, they have to win by hook or by crook on Wednesday night, against their dearest rivals. 

Football Odds

Although they have struggled slightly this term to get the better of Milan, I do think they will get the job done. However, given I am not 100% sure whether they will do it in 90 minutes, extra-time or penalties, I think the safest selection is to back Lautaro Martinez to find the net yet again - during normal time. 

Inter Milan vs AC Milan Odds

The captain has now been on the scoresheet in three of the last four matches, taking his goal tally with the Nerazzurri to 150 in the process. He drew a blank at Bologna, but he isn’t one to be kept quiet for long, and his consistency is remarkable. The Argentine has now scored more than twenty goals in five of his seven seasons at the club. 

He is on course to be Inter’s top scorer for the fourth season running and what’s more, it isn’t out of the question that he ends his career as the second-highest scorer in Inter Milan’s entire history. 

Both Sandro Mazzola and Roberto Boninsegna are within 23 goals, while Alessandro Altobelli has 209, but Martinez is only 27 and 60 goals may only take three seasons at his current scoring rate. Giuseppe Meazza, a World Cup winner in 1938 and widely regarded as one of Italy’s greatest-ever players, tops the list with 284 and is unlikely to ever be caught. 

The current skipper had a fairly slow start to the league campaign in terms of goals, and has 'only' racked up 12 in Serie A this term, but overall he has still been integral to their play. In the Champions League he has eight in 11, taking his total to 21 for the season. He missed the first leg against Milan with a muscle issue but is fit to cause them problems this time around.
