For Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day, we are once again steering clear of the Club World Cup. If you would like to follow tips for that competition we have an extensive range of team previews, match previews and Bet Builders, which you can find here.

My last Football Bet of the Day tip saw us land a 5/1 winner, as England U21 beat Spain U21 in their quarter-final, with both teams getting on the scoresheet, but today we are heading to the Syrian Premier League in search of value. Let’s hope for another winner.

Football Bet of the Day - Tuesday, June 24

  • Al-Wahda Damascus to beat Hottin @ 13/10

If you aren’t familiar with the Syrian Premier League, the regular 22-match league campaign was postponed in December due to Syrian opposition offensives, and the 2024/25 season will now be decided with every team playing each other just once, before the top four outfits enter the play-offs.

It means that we’ve got an interesting clash coming up between two teams looking to finish in those play-off positions. Al-Wahda Damascus face Hottin (15:00), looking to secure a victory that will take them two points off the top of the table after a remarkable run of form. They finished 10th last season, finishing one place above the relegation zone having amassed just 24 points from their 22 matches.

Today's Football FixturToday's Football Fixtures

This season, it has been a complete turnaround, and if they win today as I hope, they will have moved onto 22 points from just nine fixtures. It’s been an incredible start to the new campaign by Damascene Orange and the momentum just keeps building - to the extent where in this shortened league season, it now feels like they may achieve something special.

Their current record reads won six, drawn one, lost one, and things become even stronger when you realise their only defeat came just before the league was suspended in December - in their first league fixture. Since the restart they’ve won six out of seven, including each of their last three.

Football Bet of the Day Stats

  • Al-Wahda Damascus have won six out of seven, including each of their last three.
  • A win will confirm their play-off spot

Now, Hottin are not a bad outfit and currently sit fifth having picked up 16 points from nine games, so they will also fancy their chances of making the play-offs. However, the draws are killing them right now, and even though they’ve only lost once this season, four draws have halted their progress.

If my maths is correct, which it is, if Al-Wahda win this game, they will have confirmed themselves a play-off position - so the drive and determination is going to be there as they storm into the final part of the season. Hottin have only managed to score three goals in their last four matches, so I wouldn’t expect this to be a high-scoring affair, but for now we will simply back the nominal home side to take maximum points.

Al-Wahda Damascus vs Hottin Odds

The road to Damascus is often full of challenges, but can prove to be life-changing. For Hottin, I think the road to Damascus will ultimately end in defeat. I’m happy to back the form team here to continue their special season and charge into the play-offs.
