The midweek round of Premier League fixtures concludes on Thursday (20:00, Sky Sports Main Event) with a high-profile London derby at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea will entertain Tottenham.

Aside from that fixture, it is a fairly quiet day across Europe, but there is plenty to go at in South America, with group-stage games in the Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana to consider. It's in west London, though, where you'll find my Football Bet of the Day for Thursday, which you can check out below.

Football Bet of the Day - Thursday, April 3

  • To Win To Nil - Chelsea @ 13/5

Chelsea have been clinging on to fourth spot in the Premier League table after a run of three defeats in their last five league games, and the visit of Tottenham provides a chance to pick up a much-needed three points.

Boss Enzo Maresca should be able to call upon Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke for Thursday’s assignment as all three have trained this week, providing a welcome boost as they bid to keep hold of a Champions League spot.

Backing one of the aforementioned trio to grab a goal did come under Bet of the Day consideration, and at 7/4, Madueke stands out. However, both he and Jackson have been out for some time, and it remains to be seen if either can pick up where they left off prior to their respective injuries, while Palmer’s last goal came in January, which means there is more appeal in looking at the match result markets.

The league is a clear priority for Chelsea despite their Conference League commitments, while Tottenham are effectively playing for pride domestically at this point, with Europe out of reach and relegation almost unthinkable, so their focus will be on next week’s Europa League tie with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Odds

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Stats

  • Chelsea have kept three clean sheets in last five games (all comps)
  • Spurs have failed to score in four of last five trips to Stamford Bridge
  • Spurs are winless in last three PL matches (D1, L2)

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou will want a reaction after a poor display in defeat to Fulham last time out, but it is still hard to see them getting a result at Stamford Bridge, while even a goal could be beyond them.

Tottenham have five defeats in nine games against their various city rivals this season, and they have now failed to score in three of their last five games after a 2-0 defeat at Craven Cottage in the last round of fixtures.

Football Odds

Chelsea have three clean sheets in their last five games across all competitions and they’ve gone three matches without conceding at home.

The reverse fixture was a thrilling 4-3 win in north London for the Blues, but a similar type of game is perhaps unlikely in this latest meeting, as Tottenham have drawn blanks in four of their last five trips to this venue.

Chelsea are the clear favourites at 4/6 to win the game, but given their recent defensive resolve and Tottenham’s struggles in front of goal, it looks worth taking a bit more of a risk by backing the hosts to win without conceding at 13/5.
