Football Bet of the Day: Nerazzurri to sweep aside opponents

Thursday's football bet of the day comes from San Siro as Inter Milan and Udinese face off in the Coppa Italia round of 16 (20:00, live on Premier Sports 1).

After an impressive win in the capital over Lazio last time out, moving them within touching distance of top spot in Serie A, Simone Inzaghi's side will be making their first appearance in this season's Coppa Italia on Thursday, hoping to lift the coveted trophy for a 10th time. Meanwhile, Udinese are winless in six matches but have beaten Avellino and Salernitana to make it to this stage.

Inter Milan join this season's Coppa Italia at the round of 16 stage, and enter this match on a high note after cruising to a 6-0 victory over Lazio on Monday night.

The Nerazzurri led by two goals at the interval before Nicolo Barella's strike sparked a dominant second-half display from the Milan giants, with the likes of  Carlos Augusto, Denzel Dumfries and Marcus Thuram all getting in on the action.

That result leaves Inzaghi's men third in the Serie A standings, three points behind leaders Atalanta, although Inter do have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Udinese have been struggling lately, recording just one win in their last seven outings including the 3-1 loss to Napoli last time out. However, they started this season's Coppa Italia journey in the first round, way back in August.

They cruised past Avellino, courtesy of goals from Brenner, Florian Thauvin, Lorenzo Lucca and Keinan Davis, before enjoying a 3-1 win over Salernitana in September to set up this tie with the blue half of Milan.

The two teams have crossed paths 117 times in all competitions, and as expected, the hosts have been the dominant side in these meetings, recording 61 wins. The Friulani have secured 24 wins and 32 games have ended in draws. Inter were victorious in the most recent meeting between the pair in September with the Italian giants claiming a 3-2 win in Serie A.

Inter and Udinese last met at this stage of the Coppa Italia back in the 2013/14 season, where the latter prevailed in a narrow 1-0 victory, which would be a massive upset should it happen again, as reflected in the 25/1 price.

The hosts have won to nil in six of their last nine matches across all competitions and have looked excellent in recent months, apart from a disappointing loss to Bayer Leverkusen on matchday six of the Champions League.

Inter should be too strong for their opponents here, especially at home, and given Udinese's poor run of form, I think they can keep a clean sheet in the process.
