Football Bet of the Day: Chelsea to land another big win

On Thursday we have a couple of major European semi-finals taking place as Manchester United and Tottenham strive to put one step in the Europa League final. However, we are turning our attention to the Conference League semis as Chelsea travel to Sweden to take on Djurgarden.
Below you can find my Football Bet of the Day for Thursday, May 1.
Football Bet of the Day - Thursday, May 1
- Chelsea to win to nil vs Djurgarden @ 23/20
I think we are set to see an incredibly one-sided Conference League semi-final on Thursday night. Chelsea are just 4/11 to win the entire competition this season which gives you some idea of just how fancied they are in this semi-final.
They are 3/10 to win on the night against a team that are currently 11th after five games of the new Allsvenskan season. They finished fourth last term to qualify for this competition but they were 12 points behind the league winners Malmo, and aren’t at the level required to win this tournament this year.
It might sound really harsh, given they have made it to the final four. However, their run to this stage has been relatively simple. In the last 16 they played Pafos from Cyprus and lost the away game 1-0, before turning it around in the second leg. In the quarters, they faced Rapid Wien and lost the first leg 1-0 at home.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Djurgarden are 11th in the Swedish top flight
- They lost the first legs of the last-16 and quarter-finals 1-0
- Chelsea won all six of their Conference League group stage matches
Then in the second leg, they pulled off a remarkable comeback to win 4-1 after extra-time. However, Rapid Wien had a man sent off after just seven minutes, then Djurgarden were handed a penalty to level the tie. Against 10 men, they managed to get in front before the home side went down to nine in extra time.
That’s not a normal game of football, and as a result they are fortunate to be in this semi-final. They are going to get hammered by Chelsea over two legs, of that I have no doubt. The Blues have won their last two Premier League games and although they haven’t had an amazing season, they sit fifth in the table and could qualify for next season’s Champions League.
They’ve spent so much money that their second team that has performed in Europe this term have wiped the floor with the majority of the opposition. I expect that to continue here and Chelsea to enjoy a comfortable away win. Enzo Maresca guided his side to a 3-0 away win over Legia Warsaw in the first leg of the quarter-final and I can see them doing something similar in Sweden.
Chelsea should have no issues in winning this semi-final, and winning the Conference League.
