Football bet of the day

European leagues tend to save the best of the weekend action until Sunday night, with Valencia's trip to Barcelona the pick of the day's La Liga action.

That game will be the focus of our Football Bet of the Day for Sunday, and you can find our reasoning below.

Barcelona vs Valencia Odds

Valencia players have been critical of the chaotic build-up to the game, but it's fair to say that the change suits them. Instead of being the opposition as Barca return home, they'll face a significantly reduced home support.

Stadium issues are far from Barca's only troubles heading into the weekend. The club have started with seven points from three games, but it's been far from an easy ride.

Barcelona coasted to a 3-0 win in their opener, but they faced a Mallorca side who were reduced to nine men after 39 minutes. Since then, they've struggled defensively in clashes with Levante and Rayo Vallecano.

Newly-promoted Levante finished with just 18% possession in their 3-2 loss to Barcelona. They made the most of their time on the ball, recording 2.14 Expected Goals, creating six big chances.

Barca lost the xG battle for the second successive game ahead of the international break, as they drew 1-1 at Rayo Vallecano. The hosts dominated the second half, recording 1.11 xG and creating four big chances in the second 45 minutes alone.

It's hard to imagine that trips around the world, followed by a move to an unfamiliar venue, will help Barca's organisation. They meet a solid Valencia side, who beat Getafe 3-0 before the break.

Barca are priced at 7/5 to win and concede, but news that Lamine Yamal picked up an injury on international duty makes the Catalan side less appealing.

Ferran Torres is expected to lead the line, having scored in two of Barca's first three games. He continued his scoring form in Spain's 6-0 win at Turkey, while he's 19/20 to score anytime on Sunday.

Even without Yamal, Barca should have enough going forward to break down Valencia. The visitors have an awful record against the Blaugrana, having conceded 18 times across their previous four meetings.

However, Valencia have solid attacking options, so expect them to trouble a Barca side that has shipped 3.99 xG across their previous two matches.

Both teams to score is the standout bet, at 4/5.
