Football Bet of the Day – Friday

  • Birmingham and over 1.5 goals in Birmingham City vs QPR – 7/5

Birmingham City are looking to get back to winning ways when they face QPR on Friday night. After an unbeaten start to the season after their first five matches, the Blues have suffered two straight defeats against Watford and Preston North End.

A return to St Andrew’s gives them an excellent opportunity to put those two losses behind them and get back to how they were before the international break. In the two defeats, the Blues played well but it was fine margins that cost them.

They suffered a late collapse at Watford after Lee Buchanan was sent off and against Preston, they were in control of the game but gifted two sloppy goals to the league leaders.

Their biggest problem has been not being ruthless with the chances they create, a drum that manager John Eustace has been banging since he stepped through the doors over a year ago.

For all their dominance at Deepdale, they didn’t have a great deal of clear-cut chances because they were often letting themselves down with the final ball. Against an inconsistent QPR side, they will want to show that they can kill games off if they are on top.

Jay Stansfield, on loan from Fulham, is their leading scorer with three goals so far, and he will fancy his chances to continue his form in front of goal when the R’s visit. There is plenty of quality behind him on the pitch, too.

Attackers Koji Miyoshi, Keshi Anderson and Siriki Dembele have all got goals in their locker and the ability to play a defence-splitting pass. This is something that the hosts will need to put into practice if they are to keep up momentum in the race for the top six.

QPR at home certainly comes at a good time for them and we fancy that they will return to winning ways and that there will be a couple of goals in the game.
