Football Bet of the Day: Norway can provide the goods again

We’ve got Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League action on Friday night prior to their Europa League final on Wednesday, while Walsall are looking to book their place at Wembley as they host Chesterfield in the League 2 play-off semi-final.
However, our Football Bet of the Day is taking in action from Norway this Friday, and I think we’ve found some value.
Football Bet of the Day - Friday, May 16
- Brann to win and BTTS @ 9/5
Brann have made an incredibly strong start to the new Eliteserien season, and currently sit second in the table. Freyr Alexandersson only took the job in January after Eirik Horneland left for Saint-Etiene, having led Brann to a second-place finish in the 2024 campaign.
They finished just three points behind champions Bodo/Glint and will be targeting the title this time around given the club from the Arctic Circle have had other priorities this season, with the Europa League run taking most of their attention at the start of this new campaign.
Brann have won five, drawn one and lost one of their seven games this term, as they drew 0-0 with unbeaten Rosenborg last time out. I like the look of this side that has picked up where they left off last term, and they have a more than winnable test coming up this Friday as they host Sarpsborg.
Football Bet of the Day Stats
- Brann have won six out of seven league matches
- BTTS has come in during five of Brann's seven fixtures so far
- Daniel Karlsbakk has scored five goals in six games for Sarpsborg
The away side sit sixth having won three, drawn two and lost one at the start of this 2025 season, as they look to build on their ninth-place finish last term. The home side are the odds-on favourites to win this match which kicks off at 17:00 on Friday, and rightly so given their pedigree.
Sarpsborg remain in the cup where they have put in some strong performances, and they are a decent team at this level having only lost one of their last four. Last time out they hammered relegation candidates HamKam 4-0, but this will be a far tougher test that I believe they will lose.
Having said that, there is enough in this team to suggest that they can find the net and both teams can score on the night. In five of seven Brann matches so far both teams have scored while Sarpsborg have hit 12 goals in six league fixtures so far, averaging two goals per game which is impressive.
Daniel Karlsbakk is the joint top-scorer in the league with five goals in six appearances so he is one to watch, and I can’t see Brann keeping him at bay, even though I believe the home side will win this match.
Norway has provided the goods for us before, so let’s revisit this great country for our Football Bet of the Day. Brann to beat Sarpsborg and BTTS at a price of 9/5 is our Friday night selection.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
