Argentina and Colombia lock horns in Miami, Florida in the early hours of Monday (01:00, Premier Sports 1) to contest the Copa America final. La Albiceleste are gunning for a second successive crown and are the favourites to come come away the victors on this occasion.

Both they and Colombia have performed admirably over the past few weeks, and Los Cafeteros are sure to give them a game here, which should make for excellent viewing. It is from this clash that my football bet of the day comes.

Football Bet of the Day - Monday, July 15

  • Argentina to win 2-0 @ 8/1

Argentina vs Colombia Odds

As you would expect, the reigning Copa America and World Cup champions are expected to come out on top inside the Hard Rock Stadium, and I am inclined to agree. The past few years for La Albiceleste have been the most fruitful in their history as they have never won those tournaments back to back.

What boss Lionel Scaloni has achieved over the past six years is incredible and he has helped one of history's greatest ever players in Lionel Messi, secure the two biggest prizes on offer on the international stage.

Three years ago, the veteran Argentine superstar had no international honours, now he's on the cusp of claiming a third - that is the beauty of football. Argentina head into this Copa America final with much more valuable experience than they did last time, and they have now cultivated a winning mentality which will be difficult to stop.

Football Odds

Colombia will try their best to deny them but I can't see it happening and I think Messi and co. will get the job done inside 90 minutes. There has been a running theme throughout this tournament in which they have won by a 2-0 scoreline. Twice against Canada in the group stage and semi-finals, as well as Peru, which was also a group clash.

I think at 8/1 it is a sensible scoreline to back. They have been pretty strong defensively, conceding just one goal in their five matches so far, and that is something Colombia will be hoping to change, but I'm not too sure they will.

Premier League duo Lisandro Martinez and Cristian Romero have developed a well-structured partnership at centre-back, and they will make life difficult for Colombia's attacking front three of Jhon Cordoba, Luis Diaz and James Rodriguez.

This trio have had plenty of joy in the USA this tournament, but facing Argentina's brick wall will present them with their toughest challenge to date, and I think Scaloni's side can record another shut out.

At the other end of the pitch, they have more than enough quality to terrorise Colombia's back line with the likes of Messi, top scorer Lautaro Martinez, Julian Alvarez and Angel Di Maria.

Between them there is more than enough quality to put this final to bed in regulation time and to avoid the stress of penalties, but I am still confident that they will only be able to muster two goals.

It is the most they have managed in a single game up until this point, and Colombia will be their toughest opponents they have played in this tournament. I think they can win this game by a two-goal cushion and record a clean sheet, but by no means do I think it will be easy.
