Saturday Football Accumulator Tips: A 10/1 3PM Saturday Acca

The football season is back and we are all looking for that traditional 3PM Acca. Neil Monnery has put together his selections for Saturdaty afternoon with five legs at a price just over 10/1 as of the time of writing.
Check out who he likes and why below as he takes us through his Saturday Football Accumulator Tips...
Saturday Football Accumulator Tips

- West Bromwich Albion vs Portsmouth - Home Win @ 5/6
- Wrexham vs Sheffield Wednesday - Home Win @ 4/7

- Overall Odds @ 10.44/1
Leg 1 - Birmingham City vs Oxford United - Home Win @ 1/2
We start with one of the two most talked about clubs in the EFL Championship. Birmingham have started their second-tier campaign in good form. They were denied an opening night victory by a very controversial handball decision, that awarded Ipswich an injury-time penalty. Then they went on the road to Ewood Park and scored twice late to take all three points back home.
On Saturday they welcome in an Oxford United side that have failed to pick up a point thus far in this young season. I saw them on opening day as they played my Pompey and they didn’t look good. They performed better last time out at Hull but still tasted defeat. I think Birmingham look like one of the better sides at this level so far whereas the visitors look like one of the worse. Feels like a fairly obvious play for any acca this weekend.
Leg 2 - Southampton vs Stoke City - Home Win @ 8/11
Betting against the top-of-the-table side isn’t often a great plan of action but we are only two games in and one of Stoke’s wins was at a very depleted Sheffield Wednesday side (more on them to come later).
Southampton are going to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. They weren’t great against Wrexham but found a way to break the hearts of the new boys on opening day. A point at Portman Road is also nothing to be sniffed at. I really rate Will Still as a manager and believe he’ll get them rolling.
Stoke just don’t pass the sniff test just yet. Needing two goals in injury time to beat an average Derby side plus winning at a team who are struggling to put out a fully fit XI just doesn’t get me to believe. Southampton getting 8/11 for the home win feels like another good acca play.
Leg 3 - West Bromwich Albion vs Portsmouth - Home Win @ 5/6
Four of the five legs are in the Championship and all involve teams I’ve watched this season. There is no coincidence in that as you often get a better feel for sides that you’ve seen with your own eyes.
I am a Pompey fan and have been able to see both of our opening games. Mid-table feels like a realistic goal but the Hawthorns has been a place of nightmares in recent times. Last season it was a 0-5 shellacking and you have to go all the way back to 1998 for the last time my lot travelled back home with all the points. Since then it has been P8, W0, D2, L6. Two of those defeats have seen us concede five. The only good memory this century was a 0-2 defeat that helped keep West Brom up and relegate Southampton.
This season West Brom have already beaten Blackburn and spoiled Wrexham’s party by defeating them 3-2 at the Racecourse Ground. The Baggies look good, Pompey always play poorly there, getting 5/6 for the home win feels more than fair.
Leg 4 - Wrexham vs Sheffield Wednesday - Home Win @ 4/7
Both teams have failed to secure a point through their opening two games but they look in two completely different places. Wrexham may have lost at St. Mary’s on opening day but they played extremely well and were just given a lesson that you have to be ruthless at this level.
As for Sheffield Wednesday, they gave everything and should be roundly applauded for their performance at Leicester on opening day but they just don’t have a fully fit squad to choose from. As it stands, their only senior goalkeeper is injured and they haven't been able to sign an emergency loan to replace him. All signs point towards Ryan & Rob smiling from 16:50 on Saturday afternoon as their players celebrate a big three points.
Leg 5 - Truro City vs Southend United - Away Win @ 8/15
This is the only game of the acca where I’ve not watched either side play so far this season but all the stats point towards a good day out for the Shrimpers.
Truro have played three, lost three. They’ve yet to score and have endured three successive 2-0 defeats to open their 25/26 campaign. The Tinners won the National League South last season but this is a big step-up in quality.
Southend are enjoying a good run since the new owners came in and whereas their opponents have failed to score so far this term, they’ve yet to concede. Two good wins were followed up by a 0-0 draw with York on Wednesday night in a game that fans seem to agree was high on quality for this level. I just think the visitors are a far better side and as long as the long trip across the country doesn’t wear them out, I like the away win to put this Saturday acca up above 10/1.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
