Read below for my Football Accumulator Tips as we start in Germany, move to England, and finish in Turkey, just like Mesut Ozil (minus a three-year stint in Madrid).

1899 Hoffenheim (H) to beat Borussia Monchengladbach (14:30) @ 13/10

Starting in Germany, two bottom-half Bundesliga sides, Hoffenheim and Borussia Monchengladbach, meet at the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim.

Saturday's hosts are winless since November 23, losing a DFB-Pokal tie and failing to pick up three points in any of their three league games (two draws, one defeat) or two Europa League contests (one defeat, one draw) since.

Gladbach, meanwhile, returned to winning ways last weekend following two games without a win.

Seven points separate 11th-place Gladbach and 14th-place Hoffenheim, a far cry from last season when the latter finished seventh, 12 points ahead of Die Fohlen, who only narrowly avoided relegation.

Hoffenheim have only suffered one more Bundesliga defeat than Gladbach this season but have drawn more than a third (five) of their 14 league outings this term, and their recent form has seen the club hurtle toward the lower reaches.

I think they can get back on track this Saturday, though, up against a Gladbach side that has picked up just five points from six travel games so far, and whose only win on the road came at league straddlers Bochum (0-2) back on August 31. Furthermore, only Hoffenheim and Augsburg (both four) have scored fewer goals than Gladbach's tally of five away from home.

Hoffenheim have accrued 10 of their 14-points haul at the PreZero Arena and are unbeaten on home soil since November 2, albeit they have drawn three of their four fixtures there since; however, their single victory was in the Bundesliga against RB Leipzig on November 23 and their latest league match there was a 1-1 draw with high-fliers Freiburg.

Gladbach have lost two of their last three away games including a 3-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt last time out on November 30, while they were on the wrong end of a 4-3 scoreline the last time they visited Sinsheim.

Brentford (H) to beat Nottingham Forest (15:00) @ 6/5

Saturday's Premier League game at the Gtech Community Stadium pits, statistically, the strongest home side in the division, Brentford, against one of the best travellers, Nottingham Forest.

Brentford have won seven of their eight league contests at the Gtech this season, only failing to beat West Ham United (1-1) on September 28, with their points tally of 22 at home at least three more than any other team.

Forest, meanwhile, have picked up 14 points from eight away trips - only Chelsea (19) and Liverpool (17) have accrued more on their travels, and their only two defeats away from the City Ground have come at last season's top two, Arsenal and Manchester City (both 3-0). The East Midlands club have been one of the surprise packages of the season and currently sit fourth after back-to-back wins over Manchester United (2-3) and Aston Villa (2-1).

The Bees, though, have won all five top-flight matches at home since their September stalemate with the Irons and will fancy their chances of adding the Tricky Trees to a victim list currently containing the names of Crystal Palace, Southampton, Wolves, Ipswich Town, AFC Bournemouth, Leicester City and Newcastle United.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side won't make it easy for the west Londoners, but Thomas Frank and his charges have shown that it doesn't matter how good you are, the likelihood is that you will come a cropper at the Gtech.

Sunderland (H) to beat Norwich City (15:00) @ 5/6

Moving down to the EFL Championship, I'm backing Sunderland to carry on their impressive form this month by beating Norwich City at the Stadium of Light.

After a scintillating start to the season under Regis Le Bris, the Black Cats wobbled in November, drawing five times on the bounce before ending a winless month with a 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United. A 2-1 victory over Stoke City on December 7 was the start of a three-game unbeaten run they are currently on, however, with a 1-1 draw with Stoke City and a 3-2 win at Swansea City following that triumph over the Potters.

Their next opponents, Norwich, are experiencing contrasting fortunes. They ended last month with back-to-back wins over Plymouth Argyle (6-1) and Luton Town (4-2) but began December by losing to Queens Park Rangers (3-0) and Burnley (1-2) either side of a goalless draw at Portsmouth.

The Canaries won two of their first four away games but have failed to win any of their last seven on the road, losing three times. That's music to the ears of Sunderland who are undefeated on Wearside this season, collecting 22 points from 10 outings at the Stadium of Light.

Le Bris will be desperate for his side to turn draws into wins, though, as four of their last six home games have ended level. I think they can get three points on board this weekend against a Norwich side without a couple of key men in Josh Sargent and Kenny McLean.

Wigan Athletic (H) to beat Shrewsbury Town (15:00) @ 4/6

Wigan Athletic and Shrewsbury Town face off at The Brick Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon with the visitors on a three-game losing run in December and already looking like relegation certs in League 1.

The Shrews are bottom of the third-tier pile and are 10 points behind 20th-placed Bristol Rovers who occupy the final survival slot. They've conceded the most goals (39) in the division and have suffered back-to-back 4-1 defeats to Cambridge United and Wycombe Wanderers in recent weeks.

Gareth Ainsworth's side are also the worst travellers in the league, picking up just four points from nine games on the road.

Wigan, meanwhile, are 16th, eight places and 12 points better off than their visitors this weekend, although only Stevenage (15) and Burton Albion (16) have scored fewer goals than the Latics (17) in League 1 this season, so they haven't got too much to boast about themselves.

Only 16 goals conceded is impressive, though, with only Wrexham (13) shipping fewer into their net.

Shaun Maloney's side suffered back-to-back defeats in League 1 at the start of this month but beat local rivals Bolton Wanderers 2-0 away from home last Saturday and should be in a confident mood heading into their next game against, statistically, the worst club in the division.

Wigan won the corresponding fixture 2-0 last season and I expect a similar scoreline this time around.

Besiktas JK (H) to beat Alanyaspor (16:00) @ 4/7

We end things in Istanbul, Turkey on Saturday as Besiktas host Alanyaspor at Tupras Stadium. Eight points separate the sides in the Super Lig with Besiktas sixth at the time of writing and Alanyaspor down in 14th.

However, the Black Eagles lost 2-1 at Adana Demirspor on Monday, two days after Alanyaspor routed Gaziantep 3-0.

Crucially, though, Saturday's contest takes place at Besiktas' stadium where they have picked up 60 per cent (15) of their 25-point tally this season, and their last home game, on December 7, saw them beat Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce 1-0.

Alanyaspor, meanwhile, have won just once on their travels in 2024/25 and that was back on September 22 when they beat Adana Demirspor 2-0. Since then, they have lost at Galatasaray (1-0) and Kayserispor (2-0) either side of draws at Bodrumspor (0-0) and Samsunspor (1-1).

Home advantage should see Besiktas through in this one.
