Vissel Kobe (A) to beat Yokohama F. Marinos (11:00) @ 9/10

Yokohama F. Marinos are one of Japan's most successful football clubs, with their tally of seven top-tier titles - the most recent in 2022 - behind only Sanfrecce Hiroshima and the Kashima Antlers (both eight).

However, after finishing as J1 League runners-up to Vissel Kobe in 2023, Marinos' fortunes have taken a downturn.

They came ninth in the 20-team division last year, with Harry Kewell sacked as head coach midway through the season, and his full-time replacement, ex-Chelsea and England assistant manager Steve Holland, lasted just over four months in the role, paying the price for a horrific start to the campaign.

Patrick Kisnorbo replaced Holland as head coach, but the Australian hasn't been able to change the club's fortunes, as they've lost all five games - four in the league, one in the AFC Champions League quarter-finals - under his stewardship, scoring just twice and shipping 13 goals.

Heading into Wednesday's match at home to back-to-back J1 League champions Kobe, Marinos are five points adrift at the bottom, and 16 points behind their next opponents at the Nissan Stadium.

Kobe are 13 points behind leaders Kashima, and back-to-back-to-back titles looks unlikely at this stage, although they do have two games in hand on the Antlers.

They've lost twice in five days earlier this month but got back on track last Saturday, beating Gamba Osaka 3-2 to chalk up a fifth win in their last seven, keeping clean sheets in three of those victories, an ominous statistic given Marinos' poor record in front of goal.

Kobe have triumphed on their last two trips to the Nissan Stadium, and they're worth backing for another victory there on Wednesday.

Shanghai Port (A) to beat Suzhou Dongwu (12:30) @ 2/7

We stay in Asia for the second game of this acca and head to China, where back-to-back Super League champions Shanghai Port take a trip to Suzhou Sports Centre for their FA Cup round-of-32 tie with second-division side Suzhou Dongwu.

Shanghai Port won the league and cup double under Kevin Muscat last season, and they are looking to defend both titles this year.

Their results in the Super League so far have been mixed as they sit eight points behind leaders Shanghai Shenhua, although they have played a game fewer than their city rivals.

Muscat's charges have won three of their last five games and are unbeaten in their last three (W2, D1), and they should be confident of dispatching a Suzhou Dongwu outfit that are fifth in the Jia League, losing their last match 2-1 at Nanjing City.

One might ordinarily expect Shanghai Port to make changes to their starting XI for a cup tie against a lower-league club, but given the Red Eagles' next game isn't until June 14, Muscat may opt to name a strong line-up on Wednesday, and if he does so, this selection becomes even more obvious.

Crvena Zveda (N) to beat Vojvodina (17:00) @ 1/3

The 2024/25 Serbian Cup Final takes place between Vojvodina and Crvena Zvezda - otherwise known as Red Star Belgrade in England - at the Kraljevica Stadium on Wednesday.

Reigning champions Red Star, who have won the last four Serbian Cups, are the red-hot favourites to lift the trophy for the 29th time in their history. No club in Serbia comes close to that haul, with Partizan Belgrade next up on 16, while Vojvodina have been crowned champions twice - in 2014 and 2020.

Red Star stormed to an eighth consecutive Super Liga title earlier this year, and with one fixture remaining of the league campaign, they are 44 points ahead of fourth-placed Vojvodina, who they beat home (3-0) and away (3-5) earlier in the season before playing out a 1-1 draw against them on May 11 with the league already wrapped up.

Wednesday's final is a repeat of last year's, which was won 2-1 by Red Star, with Vojvodina only netting a consolation in the eighth minute of second-half added time.

We're not getting huge odds here, but it's a game worth whacking in the acca, with a bigger price up next...

Draw - Forest Green Rovers vs Southend United (19:45, DAZN) @ 23/10

To end this acca, I'm backing a draw in regulation time between Forest Green Rovers and Southend United, who meet in the National League play-off semi-finals.

This game takes place at Forest Green Rovers' home, The New Lawn, in Nailsworth, as they finished the season in third, 15 points ahead of seventh-placed Southend, who beat Rochdale 4-3 after extra time in the play-off quarter-finals to set up a final-four tie with FGR.

While FGR were well ahead of United in terms of points, they twice failed to get the better of them, playing out a couple of 2-2 draws, the most recent being at The New Lawn on March 15.

Southend head into this contest on the back of a run of just one defeat in their last nine away games, six of which have finished level after 90 minutes, while FGR have lost just one league game at home all season (W15, D7, L1).

This is a tie that could well go the distance, and given there has been nothing to separate the sides in their previous two meetings, I'm fancying a draw in regulation time on Wednesday at 23/10.
