Welcome back to our Scottish football accumulator series as we target a strong start in the opening round of fixtures from north of the border. Saturday’s schedule brings two games from the Premiership, including an explosive Edinburgh vs Glasgow clash at Tynecastle.
Our first acca of the 2024/25 campaign brings a mix of strength and value with four games from the Premiership and Championship. Rangers beat Hearts
The new Premiership season opens at Tynecastle in Edinburgh, where we’re backing Philippe Clement’s redesigned Rangers to deny Hearts before a huge audience. These sides met six times last season in the Premiership, League Cup, and Scottish Cup, with Gers ending on five wins and a draw.
The visitors faced some tough opponents in pre-season, including Ajax and Manchester United, to ensure they’re ready for Saturday’s trip to Edinburgh and Tuesday’s Champions League qualifier in Poland against Dynamo Kyiv. With a busy upcoming schedule and new recruits eager to make their mark on the team, we trust Rangers to kick things off in style.
Motherwell beat Ross County
Sticking with the Premiership for the second of two games from the top flight, we move to Fir Park, where we expect Motherwell to use home advantage to score a victory over Ross County.
The Steelmen failed to live up to their promise last season, ending down in ninth position. But they’re better than that and can give themselves a solid foundation with an early win for manager Stuart Kettlewell.
The Staggies visited this stadium twice last season and leaked a total of eight goals, including a stunning 5-0 home win in February of this year. The locals look stronger this season than last and can show their ambitions while gifting us a winning leg in our acca. Add Motherwell to your Saturday predictions.

Livingston beat Dunfermline
With the remaining four games from week one of the Premiership played on Sunday and Monday, we turn our attentions towards the Championship and the first of our two picks from Scotland’s second tier.
Livingston begin their adventure back to the Premiership, and fans hope the club responds following the disappointment of last season’s relegation. It’s a new-look team, but they must hit the ground running.
Livi suffered a mixed bag in last month’s Scottish League Cup group games. The Lions beat Forfar, Dunfermline, and Cove Rangers before suffering a surprise loss to Spartans.
The Pars beat Spartans but lost to Forfar, Livi, and Cove. Back Livingston to show their class with an important home win in their return to the Championship.
Patrick Thistle beat Morton
Lastly, we’re in Glasgow, where we expect Partick Thistle to defeat Greenock Morton at Firhill. As above, we’re happy to place our trust in results from the early exchanges of the League Cup, where both teams played four games with mixed fortunes.
The Jags finished second in Group G with two wins and a draw, while the Ton ended fourth in Group F after two wins and a pair of defeats.
There’s very little between these sides, and that should be evident throughout the season. I expect Morton boss Dougie Imrie to enjoy plenty of success this term but expect a trip to Firhill in the opening game to end in defeat. Add Thistle to round off your Saturday fourfold and hope our accumulator makes an explosive return.
