Football generic

Welcome back to our Scottish football accumulator series. There’s an early break in play as Premiership fixtures make way for League Cup second-round ties on Saturday. Rangers host St Johnstone at Hampden on a busy afternoon, and there are also games of note at Pittodrie and Dens Park.

Betfred’s Scottish football writer, Frank Monkhouse, has started the season in fine form, tipping an 8/1 correct score last week. He now sets his sights on landing an acca to boost profits further. Keep reading for his Football Accumulator tips this weekend in the form of a Scottish football fivefold...

Football Accumulator Tips

  • Aberdeen beat Queens Park @ 2/9
  • Dundee beat Airdrie @ 2/7
  • Hearts beat Falkirk @ 19/20
  • Ross County beat Spartans @ 4/11
  • Ayr beat Hamilton @ 4/7
  • Overall Odds - 5.56/1

Aberdeen beat Queens Park

We open our weekend Scottish League Cup accumulator at Pittodrie when backing Aberdeen to use home advantage to progress at the expense of Queens Park. The Dons topped Group A with four wins from four, scoring 15 goals and conceding just one. They followed that with back-to-back wins in the Premiership when beating St Johnstone 2-1 in Perth and St Mirren 3-1 at this venue last weekend.

Queens Park finished second behind Hibs in Group C following three wins and a defeat. The Championship side travel to the Granite City after taking just one point from a possible six against Falkirk and Livingston. Aberdeen will prove too good and deserve a place in our bet.

Dundee beat Airdrie

Moving to Dens Park for leg two of our acca, where we’re backing Dundee to score a home win over Airdrie and get their name in the hat for the next round. Dundee topped Group D with a perfect four wins, scoring 18 goals and conceding two. They’re currently third in the Premiership after drawing the Dundee Derby before beating Hearts at this venue last week. Another strong win is expected here.

Airdrie were second in Group A behind Aberdeen, thanks to three wins and a defeat. They started the Championship campaign with a 1-0 home win over Raith Rovers but were battered 5-0 by Ayr United last time out. Add Dundee to your picks.

Hearts beat Falkirk

We’re off to the Falkirk Stadium for leg three of our fivefold as trust Hearts to win in the Central Lowlands. The Jambos finished third in the Premiership last season and performed well in both cups but have endured a slow start to this campaign. Hearts are without a win in two, drawing 0-0 with Rangers in Gorgie before suffering a surprise 3-1 defeat at Dundee last time out. A tough one to take, but this game presents an ideal opportunity to get back on track, and we’re taking Hearts to do just that.

Falkirk were surprise winners of Group B when finishing ahead of Premiership Dundee United thanks to three wins from four games. They enjoy a perfect record in the Championship, beating both Queens Park and Dunfermline. They are a confident bunch, but we’re siding with the experience of the Premiership team.

Ross County beat Spartans

The Staggies travel to lower-league Spartans, where we expect them to win and progress to the next round. Ross County topped Group H with four wins from four games, scoring 10 goals and conceding three. They drew 0-0 at Motherwell in their Premiership opener before battling for a 1-1 share at home to Dundee United last time out. That form offers encouragement, and we’re backing them for the points.

Spartans enjoy the home advantage for this exciting cup tie, and fans hope that’s enough to level the playing field against Premiership opposition. They topped Group E ahead of Livingston after losing their opening game and winning the next three. Spartans will put up a fight, but we stick with the Staggies.

Ayr beat Hamilton

We wrap things up with a bet on Ayr United to pile pressure on Hamilton in the Scottish Championship. The home team are top of the league after winning their first two games and scoring seven goals without reply. A third win on the bounce would see them move onto nine points, three clear of nearest rivals Falkirk, who are preoccupied with the League Cup.

It has been a disastrous start to the season for Accies, who are already in the relegation zone after taking just one of the nine points available. They opened with a 2-0 home defeat to Ayr United before improving to secure a goalless draw at Cappielow against Morton last weekend. Back Ayr United to win and delight their fans.
