Fiorentina vs Udinese Prediction: Back Viola to play for win at home

Fiorentina will be hoping to get back to winning ways against Udinese on Monday night, having suffered a recent blip in their successful season.

The Viola went into this weekend in fourth position, but saw a run of eight consecutive Serie A wins come to an end in their most recent league outing, when they were defeated 1-0 at Bologna.

They almost suffered another defeat on Thursday, until Raffaele Palladino’s side scored a late equaliser to draw 1-1 at Vitoria Guimaraes in the Europa Conference League.

Now Fiorentina are back on home turf, where they are unbeaten in 12 games this season, aside from a penalty shootout defeat to Empoli in the Coppa Italia after a 2-2 draw.

Udinese have suffered back-to-back defeats against tough opponents, losing 3-1 at home to Napoli last weekend and then being beaten 2-0 at Inter in the cup on Thursday night.

Marin Pongracic has been absent for Fiorentina with a thigh injury, while Edoardo Bove seems unlikely to play for the club again, having had an ICD fitted following a cardiac arrest.

Palladino shuffled his pack in the 1-1 draw with Vitoria Guimaraes on Thursday, so David de Gea and Moise Kean should be among those returning to the starting line-up, while Michael Kayode is set to replace the suspended Dodo.

Alexis Sanchez made his first appearance for Udinese in the Coppa Italia defeat to Inter having returned to the club in the summer, but with this game coming only four days later, he could start on the bench.
