In stark contrast to Monday’s opponents, Tunisia managed to navigate their entire qualification campaign without incurring a defeat or conceding a single goal.

However, the Eagles of Carthage were beaten by European opposition in both of their World Cup warm-up matches, succumbing to Austria at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion before Belgium subjected them to a 5-0 thrashing in Brussels.

While his fellow midfielders - such as Burnley playmaker Hannibal Mejbri and Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate Ismaël Gharbi - offer a greater level of creativity, Skhiri arguably has the most influence on his country’s fortunes. If he plays well, so do Tunisia.
