Sweden vs Tunisia Predicted Lineups & Team News

Sweden and Tunisia clash at the Estadio BBVA in the early hours of Monday morning (3am BST, live on ITV), with both teams hopeful of making a winning start to their respective World Cup campaigns.
Who's expected to feature? Let’s take a look at the team news, key players, and predicted lineups ahead of this Group F clash.
Sweden
Sweden have only appeared in one of the previous four World Cups, when they were eliminated at the quarter-final stage by England in 2018. Therefore, it was perhaps unsurprising to see them do so poorly during qualifying.
The Scandinavians acquired just two points from their six qualification ties, leaving them rock bottom of a group consisting of Switzerland, Kosovo, and Slovenia.
Jon Dahl Tomasson was sacked following a sobering 1-0 loss to Kosovo on matchday four, with former Chelsea boss Graham Potter drafted in as his replacement.
Potter successfully guided his new charges through the subsequent playoffs and into the World Cup, after the Swedes were handed a lifeline as a consequence of their Nations League performance.
The last time FIFA’s most prestigious tournament was hosted on American soil, Sweden secured third position following a narrow semi-final loss to eventual winners Brazil.
No one is expecting them to advance quite as far on this occasion, but taking three points from their opening fixture should be well within their grasp.
Tunisia
Having never progressed beyond the World Cup group stage, Tunisia will believe the knockout rounds are a viable target thanks to the tournament’s newly expanded format.
Despite their heartbreaking elimination from the 2025 African Cup of Nations following on the back of a dramatic penalty shootout defeat to Mali, Sabri Lamouchi’s men head into the summer in confident spirits.
In stark contrast to Monday’s opponents, Tunisia managed to navigate their entire qualification campaign without incurring a defeat or conceding a single goal.
However, the Eagles of Carthage were beaten by European opposition in both of their World Cup warm-up matches, succumbing to Austria at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion before Belgium subjected them to a 5-0 thrashing in Brussels.

Sweden vs Tunisia Key Players:
Viktor Gyökeres (Sweden)
Alexander Isak struggled for both form and fitness throughout the entirety of last season, so Sweden will expect Viktor Gyökeres to shoulder most of the goalscoring responsibility in North America.
The powerful striker enjoyed a solid debut campaign at the Emirates, with his 21 goals helping to fire Arsenal to the Premier League title and the cusp of European glory. Despite having only amassed 33 caps, Gyökeres has already netted on 20 occasions for his country.
With the likes of Celtic’s Benjamin Nygren - who recorded nine assists in the Hoops last term - providing him with a glut of goalscoring opportunities, don’t be surprised if the Stockholm-born frontman increases his impressive international tally this summer.
Ellyes Skhiri (Tunisia)
A vital cog in Sabri Lamouchi’s well-oiled machine, Ellyes Skhiri offers a protective shield in front of the back four. Harrying opponents, breaking up play, and efficiently recycling possession, the Eintracht Frankfurt maestro cuts a commanding figure in the middle of the park.
While his fellow midfielders - such as Burnley playmaker Hannibal Mejbri and Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate Ismaël Gharbi - offer a greater level of creativity, Skhiri arguably has the most influence on his country’s fortunes. If he plays well, so do Tunisia.
