Team News
Romania are expected to name a strong starting XI, as they look to secure third spot in Group J and prepare for a potential play-off clash.
Denis Dragus is suspended following his sending off in the 3-1 defeat in Bosnia, with David Miculescu expected to return to the side.
Pisa midfielder Marius Marin, former Rangers man Ianis Hagi and Pafos ace Vlad Dragomir are likely to make up the midfield trio.
Filippo Berardi is poised to return to the San Marino attack, having been named on the bench for their 4-0 home defeat to Cyprus.
Matteo Vitaioli could feature for the visitors, with the captain just one game away from making 100 appearances for his country.
Romania vs San Marino Predicted Lineups
- Romania: Radu; Ratiu, Ghita, Racovitan, Chipciu; Hagi, Marin, Dragomir; Miculescu, Mihaila, Birligea.
- San Marino: Colombo; Benvenuti, Rossi, Cevoli, Riccardi; Golinucci, Capicchioni, Zannoni; Nanni, Lazzari; Berardi.
Romania are huge favourites to end the qualifying group with a win, with the hosts 1/80 to claim the three points.
San Marino, who have lost all seven of their matches to date, are 50/1 to cause a big upset, while the draw can be backed at 20/1.
Total Goals - Over 4.5 Goals @ 10/11
There have been three or more goals scored in four of the last five Romania internationals, including a 3-1 loss against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday.
These two teams met on Matchday Two and it was a comfortable 5-1 win for Mircea Lucescu’s men, with two penalties amongst the goals.
This is the first time they have squared off in Romania and with the hosts looking to secure third, which could see them make the play-offs thanks to being one of the Nations League group winners, another big win is anticipated.
San Marino’s goal in that defeat is the only one they have scored in qualifying and the visitors have conceded 32 in seven games - an average of 4.57 per game.

First Goalscorer - Daniel Birligea @ 3/1
FCSB frontman Birligea has made an impact in recent months at international level, having had to wait to become a regular in the Romania squad.
The forward made his debut for his country in October 2023 and was then taken to Euro 2024, but didn’t feature in the tournament.
Birligea scored his first Romania goal in their 4-1 Nations League win over Cyprus in June 2024, with his second coming in the defeat in Bosnia at the weekend.
Since joining FCSB from CFR Cluj last year, the 25-year-old has scored 17 goals in 36 games for his new club.
