Latvia vs Andorra Prediction: Hosts can keep slim hopes alive

The bottom two teams in World Cup 2026 qualifying Group K meet on Saturday afternoon (14:00 kickoff), as Latvia host Andorra.

Latvia still have an outside chance of qualifying as they have four points to show from five games, while Andorra’s hopes are purely mathematical as they are yet to get off the mark and are eight points behind Albania in second spot with just three games remaining.

Janis Ikaunieks is the leading international scorer in the Latvia squad with 12 goals, while forward Ingars Pulis and midfield pair Kristaps Grabovskis and Danila Patijcuks are the uncapped outfield players in Paolo Nicolato’s side.

Aberdeen midfielder Kristers Tobers is missing due to injury, so defender Antonijs Cernomordijs should captain the Latvia side on Saturday.

Veteran keeper Alex Ruiz is the only uncapped player in the Andorra side, who will be captained by 122-cap midfielder Marc Pujol.

Andorra are 7/5 to either win or draw in the double chance market and they are 5/4 to score over 0.5 goals after failing to find the back of the net in their opening five fixtures.

Latvia won 1-0 when these sides met in the first round of qualifying games and they should be able to claim another victory over the minnows from the Pyrenees.

That is Latvia’s only win in qualifying but they have managed to hold Albania to a 1-1 draw in Riga and they limited Serbia to just one goal in a defeat, and those performances suggest they should be able to get a victory over the line against an Andorra side who have conceded eight goals in total across three away games.

Latvia have been fairly solid defensively and have only conceded more than one goal in one of their qualifying fixtures, a 3-0 defeat to runaway group leaders England.

Andorra are yet to score in qualifying and they have failed to score in 14 of their last 15 games, only finding the back of the net against San Marino during that run, so a home win to nil looks a strong play.
