Team News
Iceland will be without the services of Andri Gudjohnsen against France due to suspension. He will be a big miss for the hosts after scoring 10 goals 36 appearances for his country. This may present an opportunity in attack for Daniel Gudjohnsen.
Victor Palsson and Albert Gudmundsson again set to be among the starters here as there are unlikely to be too many changes to the side that were beaten by Ukraine on Friday.
Kylian Mbappe (ankle) and Ibrahima Konate (thigh) will both miss out for France, with the pair set to return to Real Madrid and Liverpool respectively due to their respecitive injury problems.
Les Bleus are still also without the services of some exciting attacking players in Bradley Barcola, Marcus Thuram, Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele.
As such, Jean-Philipe Mateta, who made his debut last time out, could be handed his first start for his country by Didier Deschamps.
Aurelien Tchouameni is once again suspended for the visitors, meaning that Adrien Rabiot should maintain his place in the middle of the park.
Iceland vs France Predicted Line-ups
- Iceland - Olafsson; Palsson, Ingason, Gretarsson, Ellertsson; Gudmundsson, Johannesson, Haraldsson; Magnusson, D Gudjohnsen, Thorsteinsson
- France - Maignan; Kounde, Saliba, Upamecano, T Hernandez; K Thuram, Rabiot; Coman, Olise, Ekitike; Mateta
Iceland are 11/1 to stun France on Monday but they have never beaten them in 20 historic head-to-head meetings.
The stalemate is priced at 11/2, while France are 2/9 to make it four wins in a row in Group D. You can get 13/8 (implied probability of 38.1%) for the visitors and both teams to score, which was the outcome when the two sides met in Paris last month.
Over 2.5 goals also struck on that occasion and is valued at 4/9 for Monday.
Iceland vs France Stats
- France have won all three qualifiers to date
- Les Bleus have experienced over 2.5 goals in their previous two fixtures
France and over 2.5 goals @ 8/13
France have been making light work of this group so far and they have the chance to make it four wins on the bounce here. Les Bleus have been effective in the final third when needed and resilient defensively, having only conceded once in their three fixtures to date.
Iceland were on the wrong end of an eight-goal thriller last time out but they are the top scorers in Group D with nine goals, so they pose a threat to Deschamps men on home soil.
However, even with some notable attacking stars missing, France's greatest strength is their quality in depth and there are still plenty of quality players available to step up and perform for their country in such circumstances.
I think they will once again have too much for the hosts to handle and that we will see at leas three goals scored in this contest, like there have been in the visitors' past two outings.
Meanwhile, there have been over 2.5 goals in all three of Iceland's qualifiers so far.

Jean-Philippe Mateta anytime goalscorer @ 5/6
Mateta is reaping the rewards of his form for Crystal Palace in the past 20 months since Oliver Glasner took charge. The Austrian has revitalised the striker and turned him into one of the best forwards the Premier League has to offer and at 28 has now made his debut for France.
In Mbappe's absence, Mateta is set to lead the line in Iceland and have the opportunity to show his international boss what he is all about and what he can offer Les Bleus. The centre-forward has three goals in all competitions for Palace this term and I think he can translate his skills onto the international stage, especially when he is likely to be supported by his former club teammate Michael Olise in the final third.
