Denmark vs Greece Prediction: Home side expected to win big

Denmark have looked good in the early stages of qualifying, picking up seven points from three games so far. They are yet to concede, and their next test comes at the Parken Stadium, Copenhagen, on Sunday, as they look for another three points against Greece (19:45, Prime Video).

Rasmus Hojlund will lead the line for Denmark again having scored twice against Belarus on Thursday, while his former Manchester United teammate Patrick Dorgu also chipped in with a goal from left wing-back. 

Brian Riemer likes to play a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Kasper Schmeichel still the number one goalkeeper behind a back three of Jannik Vestergaard, Andreas Christensen and Joachim Andersen. Christian Eriksen and Christian Norgaard both came on as substitutes in the 6-0 win over Belarus but I can see Riemer naming an unchanged XI from the off.

Meanwhile, Greece manager Ivan Jovanovic may make some changes after his side lost 3-1 to Scotland on Thursday. Odysseas Vlachodimos could play in goal in place of Konstantinos Tzolakis, while West Ham’s Konstantinos Mavropanos should play at centre-back alongside Konstantinos Koulierakis. 

Konstantinos Tsimikas, on loan at Roma from Liverpool, scored against Scotland and should start at left-back, while Sporting striker Fotis Ioannidis could come into the XI. Eighteen-year-old Christos Mouzakitis is a hot young talent and will hope for more minutes.

Denmark are priced at 4/6 to win this game, with Greece priced at 9/2. That gives the home side an implied win probability of 60%, while a draw can be backed at 11/4. 

Over 2.5 goals is 10/11, BTTS is the same price and Hojlund is the favourite to score first at 9/2. 

Denmark to win to nil @ 8/5

Denmark are looking really strong in 2025 and I have little doubt that they will feature at the World Cup next summer. This is a Denmark team that reached the quarter-finals of the Nations League and beat Portugal at home, before succumbing to them in the second leg, so you can see just how solid they are. 

A 0-0 draw with Scotland kicked off their qualifying campaign but since then they have beaten Greece 3-0 and Belarus 6-0, both on the road. I don’t think there’s any reason to suggest that this game will be any different to the first tie we saw between these two teams in September, when Greece only managed one shot on target across the 90 minutes. 

Having now lost to Scotland, Greece look unlikely to make it to the World Cup and Denmark should put them to the sword.

Rasmus Hojlund to score @ 6/4

Hojlund was much-maligned at Manchester United, but his loan move to Napoli appears to have given him a new lease of life. He’s scored four goals in six games for the Italian champions including two in two in the Champions League - so he’s clearly showing glimpses of the player United paid big money for. 

For Denmark, right now he is their leading man, and he’s got 11 goals in 29 international appearances. More importantly, he’s now scored four in seven in 2025 and looks to have stepped up a level since August. I think he’s a good price to find the net again.
