Belgium

Belgium boss Rudi Garcia has some interesting decisions to make ahead of the clash with Egypt, with the biggest coming up front.

Romelu Lukaku is Belgium's all-time leading scorer with 89 goals from 124 caps, but the 33-year-old has barely played for his club side Napoli this term and Charles De Ketelaere looks set to be given the nod to start.

Sporting centre back Zeno Koen Debast is out through injury, but Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans are set to operate as a strong shield to the Belgium defence.

Kevin De Bruyne will pull the strings and lay on the chances in attack, while Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku brings pace and goal threat from wide positions.

Garcia is set to deploy a 4-2-3-1, with De Ketelaere potentially operating in a false nine position at the head of the Red Devils’ attack.

Egypt

Egypt’s hopes are once again pinned on their captain Mohamed Salah. However, the Liverpool forward has been struggling with a hamstring injury, and while he will start against Belgium, the 33-year-old may not be fully fit.

Either way, it has been a disappointing campaign for Salah, who has been unsettled and struggling for form at Anfield, but Egypt will hope to have the best version of the 33-year-old on side against Belgium.

Hossam Hassan is expected to play a 4-2-3-1 formation with Mohanad Lasheen and Marwan Ateya operating at the base of midfield.

Omar Marmoush is a forward capable of scoring goals and the Manchester City man looks set to lead the Egypt line.

Belgium vs Egypt Key Players:

Jeremy Doku (Belgium)

Jeremy Doku enjoyed a strong finish to the season with Manchester City, but Kevin De Bruyne will be the key to any Belgium success.

It was a mixed bag for the 34-year-old at Napoli, but the former Manchester City man may have one last dance for Belgium.

De Bruyne will be charged with linking midfield to attack and he still has the intelligence, quality and timing to deliver big opportunities for his team-mates.

Mo Salah (Egypt)

Salah has scored 67 goals in 116 games for his country and is without doubt Egypt’s key performer. The Pharaohs have been able to rely on the Liverpool man for so long, but there are questions going into this World Cup.

Salah scored only seven Premier League goals this season, a drop from the 29 he managed previously, and there was a serious drop in form from the 33-year-old.

Injuries have also had an impact and Egypt will hope they can get Salah fit and firing to lead them in action against Belgium.
