The semi-finals of the Fifa Club World Cup are upon us and the tournament really has gone by in a blur. On Tuesday (20:00 BST, live on Betfred), we will see Fluminense take on Chelsea at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey for a place in the final, with another chunk of change available for the semi-final winners.

We’ve tried to pick out a winner of our own and below you can find my Fluminense vs Chelsea Bet Builder Tips.

Chelsea to win

All picks in favour of Chelsea here, and I think even though the odds aren’t particularly sexy for this Tuesday night clash, I’m reasonably confident in this Bet Builder. Firstly, let’s discuss why I believe Chelsea are more than ready to book their place in the final.

Fluminense vs Chelsea Odds

They’ve already brushed past a Brazilian side, beating Palmeiras 2-1 last time out and even though Enzo Maresca is still getting used to his new number nines in the form of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, it’s been a decent tournament so far for the Blues. Although they required a late own goal to progress to the final four, statistically they dominated against Palmeiras, winning the xG battle 1.16 to 0.21.

Meanwhile, Fluminense have lost the xG battle in their last three outings and have done incredibly well to reach this stage, but I just feel their luck will run out in this semi. Chelsea have been relatively good defensively, and although the Brazilians went on a brilliant run of clean sheets prior to the Al Hilal match, I don’t think they will be able to keep Maresca’s men at bay. Chelsea to win this one in 90 minutes.

Fluminense vs Chelsea Bet Builder Stats

  • Fluminense have lost the xG battle in their last three outings
  • Fluminense have had just seven corners in their last three fixtures
  • Cole Palmer got off the mark in the quarter-finals

Chelsea to have most corners and Fluminense under 3.5 corners

As you can see, I am expecting Chelsea to have the better of this game, both on the scoreline and in the statistics department. They should win the xG fight as I’ve just established which should give them more dominance on the pitch, and therefore more shots on goal and corners.

They managed to win 10 corners compared to Palmeiras’ three in the quarter-final, while Fluminense had just four corners to Al Hilal’s 12 in their last-eight clash. They only had two corners v Inter (who had four), and one against Mamelodi Sundowns (also four).

In a game in which they are expected to concede possession once more, I think we can find some excellent value in the corners market.

Cole Palmer to score

Cole Palmer hadn’t been at his best at this Club World Cup, but he finally got off the mark with a goal against Palmeiras. Maresca had moved him out of his number 10 role, trying him on both the left and right wings in a bid to accommodate three central midfielders in Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

However, he looks far more comfortable in the number 10 role and scored from that position against the Brazilians, leaving the manager in no doubt where he needs to play. He needs the free role to cause problems, and the rest of the team must fit around him, not the other way around. He should start in that position again, and remains Chelsea’s biggest goal threat.
