Club World Cup Team Betting Predictions: Ulsan HD

Ulsan HD will be jetting off to the USA for the new-look Fifa Club World Cup later this month. It is a tournament in which they have not enjoyed success in the past, while they have not been having the best of time in 2025.
The Tigers are three-time domestic champions, however, and they may see this competition as a chance to reinvigorate their season. Below you will find my Ulsan HD Fifa Club World Cup predictions.
Club World Cup Team Betting Predictions - Ulsan HD
Group F: Borussia Dortmund, Fluminense, Mamelodi Sundowns, Ulsan HD
Fixtures: Ulsan HD vs Mamelodi Sundowns (23:00 BST, June 17), Fluminense vs Ulsan HD (23:00 BST, June 21), Borussia Dortmund vs Ulsan HD (20:00 BST, June 25).
Ulsan are five-time champions in South Korea and they have won the past three titles on offer. The chance to extend that streak to a fourth year is in doubt as they currently lie third in the K League 1 standings, seven points behind leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, who have won the division a record nine times.
The table-toppers also have two games in hand on Ulsan, which could potentially leave the Tigers with a 13-point deficit in the title race. The Club World Cup offers the reigning Korean champions a chance to escape their domestic shortcomings and to test themselves against some of the best sides across the world.
They do have experience that could serve them well in the USA, though, having won the AFC Champions League twice without defeat in 2012 and 2020. Of course, things are very different for Ulsan than they were five years ago, but they still have a group who have managed to dominate domestically for the past three seasons.

Player to watch: Erick Farias
Erick Farias is my player to watch this summer for the Tigers as he has had an instant impact since joining the K League 1 champions in March from his native Brazil.
Farias made the switch from Juventude and has been a bright spark for Ulsan in recent months, scoring nine goals in 15 appearances in all competitions, and he is averaging a goal every 111 minutes. He looks to be Ulsan's best bet of qualifying from Group F alongside the likes of Dortmund and Fluminense.
The 28-year-old has already become a key figure in Kim Pan-gon's team, and he in particular will be hoping for his form to translate over to the Club World Cup.
Kim is a man under pressure and he has been in the job for around a year. He replaced Hong Myung-bo, who was reappointed by the national team, to see the Tigers over the line for their third consecutive league title. However, they have only won 20 of his 43 games in charge and a poor performance in the USA may spell the end of his reign.
To English football supporters, there is a familiar face in Ulsan's ranks in the form of Lee Chung-yong who featured for both Bolton Wanderers and Crystal Palace between the years of 2009-18 - making 105 Premier League appearances between the two clubs in the process.
At 36, he is in the twilight years of his career and this is likely going to be his last chance to tussle with some of the best players in the world.

Prediction: Third in Group F
Considering this season has not quite gone to plan for Ulsan HD so far, it is hard to see the Tigers having a successful Club World Cup campaign, particularly when they have to battle against Dortmund and Fluminense to reach the knockout stage.
Their easiest game on paper is against Mamelodi Sundowns, which is their opening contest. It's only going to get tougher from there as they then face Fluminense before rounding off against Dortmund.
It's not the most competitive group in the tournament, with many expecting both Dortmund and Fluminense to progress without a fuss, but Ulsan could perhaps throw a cat among the pigeons which could make Group F more exciting than it currently looks. But ultimately, I'm expecting the Korean champions to head for an early exit.
