Feyenoord vs Ajax Prediction: Paixao to deliver again in Der Klassieker

There's a midweek Der Klassieker on offer in the Netherlands on Wednesday evening (17:00) as Feyenoord host Ajax at De Kuip.
Below you can read my Feyenoord vs Ajax prediction, complete with all the latest team news and match odds, ahead of this Eredivisie clash in Rotterdam.
Feyenoord vs Ajax Betting Tips
Team News
Feyenoord are still without star striker Santiago Gimenez, who has missed their last six matches due to injury. The Mexico international has friends in the treatment room as Calvin Stengs, Jordon Lotomba, Gjivai Zechiel, Bart Nieuwkoop and Quilindschy Hartman all remain sidelined.
Danish head coach Brian Priske could make a few changes from Sunday's 2-0 win at Utrecht when Julian Carranza and Quinten Timber scored either side of half-time to secure Feynoord's fifth-straight victory in all competitions.
Gernot Trauner, Gijs Smal, Chris Nadje and Anis Hadj Moussa are among those vying for starts.
Ajax are unable to call upon the services of Julian Rijkhoff, Kristian Hlynsson or Sivert Mannsverk, while there are question marks over the fitness of Steven Berghuis, Gaston Avila and Amourricho van Axel Dongen.
English duo Jordan Henderson and Chuba Akpom began Sunday's 1-0 win over Willem II on the substitutes bench, with only Henderson coming on in the second half. Both players will be hoping to earn recalls to the starting XI on Wednesday, though, as will Dutch striker Wout Weghorst, who has scored in his last three Ajax appearances.

Feyenoord are 1/1 to claim a fourth consecutive success in the Eredivisie, giving the hosts an implied win probability of 50%, while Ajax are 11/4, or a 26.7% chance, to make it five league victories in a row.
The draw is priced at 5/2, both teams to score at 4/7, and over 2.5 total goals at 4/6.
Match Result & Both Teams to Score - Feyenoord & Yes @ 12/5
PSV Eindhoven are the runaway leaders in the Eredivisie after collecting maximum points from 10 games, while FC Utrecht are currently in second on 22 points.
Ajax and Feyenoord are three points further behind, the former having played a game fewer, but both clubs have been in impressive form themselves over the last few weeks.
Feyenoord have won their last five games in all competitions, including their last three in the league, and are yet to be beaten in the Dutch top flight this term, although they did draw four of their first six matches as they adjusted to life after Arne Slot.
They appear to be in the groove now, though, starting their winning streak with a 3-2 victory at Girona in the Uefa Champions League before beating FC Twente (2-1) and Go Ahead Eagles (5-1) in the Eredivisie.
The past week has brought another two triumphs, the first an impressive 3-1 success at Portuguese giants Benfica, followed by the weekend win at Utrecht.
All of this has been achieved without last season's top scorer, Gimenez, proving that they are no one-man team.
Ajax, meanwhile, are unbeaten since losing 2-1 to NAC Breda on August 18, winning five of their following six Eredivisie contests.
However, de Godenzonen are yet to play one of the country's 'Big Three' - Feyenoord or PSV - or any of last season's top eight.
As a result, while they have improved under the tutelage of Italian head coach Francesco Farioli since he took charge in the summer, I'm reluctant to fully back them until they prove themselves against elite Dutch or European opposition.
Feyenoord have already beaten Girona and Benfica in the Champions League this term, while they also got the better of PSV after a penalty shoot-out in the Johan Cruyff Shield.
De Trots van Zuid beat Ajax home and away last season, thrashing their rivals 4-0 in Amsterdam last September before tearing them apart 6-0 in Rotterdam in April.
I don't envisage similar scorelines to those on Wednesday as I believe Ajax have significantly improved since then, but I do think Feyenoord will come out on top.
Ajax have scored in all 17 games under Fariolo, though, while both teams to score has landed in 78 per cent (seven) of Feyenoord's nine league games, so I do think the visitors can get on the scoresheet, even if it is a consolation effort.

Anytime Goalscorer - Igor Paixao (FEY) @ 11/5
It's not been the most prolific start to the season for Feyenoord forward Igor Paixao, who followed seven goals in his debut Eredivisie campaign with a nine-goal haul in the Dutch top flight last term.
The 24-year-old has only struck twice in his opening nine league games in 2024/25, against Zwolle and Groningen, and those two goals came in Feyenoord's first four matches.
Paixao's strike in Groningen on September 14 has been followed by an eight-game drought in all competitions, a run of form the Brazilian will be desperate to end sooner rather than later.
Despite his struggles in front of goal, Priske has kept faith with the winger, starting him in every single match this term.
Paixao will hope to keep his manager's faith in midweek, and if he does retain his starting spot, will look to reward him with a goal in Der Klassieker.
It's a fixture that has previously brought about joy for Paixao, who scored his first Der Klassieker goal in a 1-1 draw in January 2023. He then scored home and away against Ajax last season, netting Feynoord's third at the Johan Cruyff Arena before bagging a brace at De Kuip earlier this year.
At 11/5, I think it's worth getting on side with Paixao before he hits a run of form again.
