Exeter City welcome Wycombe Wanderers to St James Park in League 1 on Tuesday (19:45, Sky Sports+) looking to end a three-game winless streak. They were beaten 2-0 at home to Birmingham City last Tuesday and the Grecians have failed to score in their last three league fixtures.

Wycombe left it late to secure another win against Mansfield Town last Tuesday to keep their four-point lead at the top of the table. Their current winning run stretches to 11 games in all competitions. Read on for my Exeter City vs Wycombe Wanderers prediction, including the latest match odds and team news.

Exeter City vs Wycombe Wanderers Betting Tips

  • Wycombe to win to nil @ 23/10

Exeter City vs Wycombe Wanderers Odds

Exeter are 11/4 to get back to winning ways, which gives them a theoretical chance of 26.7%. Wycombe are 1/1 to come away with another three points, giving them an implied probability of 50%. The draw is available at 5/2 (28.6%).

Both teams to score is on offer at 8/11 and over 2.5 goals is marketed at 5/6.

Wycombe striker Richard Kone has netted nine goals in the league so far, and he is the 13/8 favourite to score anytime on Tuesday.

Team News

Exeter boss Gary Caldwell remains without the services of Yanic Wildschut and Patrick Jones due to injury.

With the Grecians ending their winless run with an FA Cup triumph at home to Chesterfield at the weekend, Caldwell could opt for a similar XI against the Chairboys.

Josh Magennis should keep his place up front after getting back on the scoresheet against the Spireites, but it remains to be seen whether he will be partnered by Millenic Alli (who started against Chesterfield), Sonny Cox or Jay Bird.

Jack Aitchison should continue to operate behind the front men while Ryan Woods and Jake Richards operate in the engine room. Impressive shot-stopper Joe Whitworth will continue between the sticks, while Tristan Crama will anchor the back three.

For Wycombe, boss Matt Bloomfield has no fresh injury concerns heading into this one, and his squad has mostly been intact during their excellent winning run. He will likely stick with the same players who are performing brilliantly at the moment.

Top scorer Kone will lead the line for the visitors, and he'll likely be supported by Fred Onyedinma (who has five goals himself in the league), Cameron Humphreys and Daniel Udoh in attack.

The likes of Garath McCleary and Beryly Lubala will also be hoping to start, with the latter scoring a sublime free-kick against Wealdstone in the FA Cup last time out. Luke Leahy and Aaron Morley look set to keep their places in the side. Jasper Pattenden and Dan Harvie will provide support in attack as the full-backs.

Caleb Taylor and Joe Low should continue their impressive partnership in the heart of defence.

Wycombe to win to nil @ 23/10

Wycombe are flying at the moment and no one seems to be able to stop them. Mansfield though they had done it last week as it was goalless heading into injury time, before Leahy's cross-shot found it's way into the far corner to keep the winning streak going.

It was a big result as Birmingham had beaten Exeter to get back to winning ways, and had the Chairboys dropped points, it would have been interesting to see how they would have responded to that added bit of pressure.

The league leaders' confidence has grown instead, though, and they will be fancying themselves to secure another three points down in Devon against a hit-and-miss Grecians side.

Exeter will be relieved after picking up a win at the weekend but it doesn't change the fact that they have lost two on the bounce to promotion contenders Birmingham and Wrexham, and now face another in Wycombe - who have scored 36 goals already this campaign.

The Grecians registered just one shot on target against Birmingham last week, having barely laid a glove on the Blues all night. I struggle to see them improving against the league leaders who are scoring for fun.

I think there is value to be had in backing them to win to nil, which has landed six times for them this season. I believe they will outscore the hosts with ease, and with Exeter having looked toothless in attack in their recent League 1 outings, I feel we could see them go four games without a goal in the third tier.

Over 2.5 Wycombe goals @ 3/1

I have been impressed with the Chairboys' attacking output so far that I think they can have another profitable evening in front of goal. Exeter have one of the best defensive records in the division but they still conceded two goals to Birmingham and three to Wrexham, who are both teams fighting for promotion this year.

Wycombe are currently above both of those clubs in the league table and have scored a lot more goals than them too. The Chairboys have scored 10 more than the Red Dragons, and eight more than the Blues. This is the team that Exeter don't want to be facing right now as they look to get back to winning ways in League 1.

It took some time, but in October we started to see some of the best Wycombe's attackers had to offer as they registered their first three-goal showing against Peterborough United.

The visitors have managed to score at least three goals a further four times in the last couple of months, and they look to be hitting their stride heading into the festive period.

I think backing them to manage over 2.5 goals single-handedly offers great value at 3/1, especially against a defence that has proven to struggle against the better teams in the division.

Exeter are going to be in for a long old evening against the top scorers, and I expect this to be reflected in the scoreline.
